Sin Is Blind, Part 1

February 13, 2015
The Bible says, "Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin." Driven with Love, Jesus died on the cross for all sin. Sadly, this 3-letter word still has a tight hold on men and women. As people indulge in it, they eventually become spiritually blind and confused. Today on Sound Doctrine we'll begin a study called "Sin Is Blind", and Pastor Jeff will teach in depth on this important issue.

2 Timothy 6:9 & 10 says "Those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a trap, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.  For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."  Money in the hands of a corrupt individual can be extremely destructive.  However, it can be used for great things in the hands of one who fears the Lord.

Did you know that the Bible has over 2,000 verses on money?  Why is this?  It may be, that God desires t teach us how to handle something that has the potential to take over and ruin lives.  He wants His children to be good stewards of money, and use it to expand His kingdom.  Today on Sound Doctrine we'll learn about the Use and Misuse of money from a study in 2 Kings chapter 12.

An old Hymn called "Trust & Obey" has a line that reads "Trust and obey, for there's no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey."  Today Pastor Jeff explains the significance of obedience in a relationship with God.  If we obey all that He tells us to do, revival will take place in our hearts.

The Apostle Paul instructed us in Romans 12:19 saying "Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written "Vengence is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord.  Instead "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; in doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads."  Today Pastor Jeff talks about blessing those who curse us.

Isaiah 59:1 says "The Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear: But your iniquities have separated you from your God: And your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear."  Sin is the one thing that will separate us from our God.  Today on Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff concludes his message on the sin of pride and the corruption that comes with it.

The Bible says, "God resist the proud, but gives grace to the humble."  We've been learning about the pride of man on Sound Doctrine, and the devastating results it brings.  Today Pastor Jeff says to resist our temptation of being seen by man, and allow Christ to be seeing in you.  We'll learn more about this with our study in 2 Kings chapter 10.

When John experienced his heavenly vision he saw 24 elders worshiping God saying "you are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for you created all things, and by your will they exist and were created."  Power belongs to the Creator, not the creation.  Today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff teaches on the dangers of power, and the corruption it can bring.
