June 27, 2018

Has God ever entrusted something into your care specifically? Maybe a tense situation at work that you had to handle? Or possibly a friend confiding in your with delicate information as you disciple them? Pastor Jeff Johnson shares how In Ephesians 3, Paul was given a stewardship to reveal that Non-Jews could have a relationship with Jesus Christ through the Gospel. He goes on to give examples through the Word of others who were entrusted by God to a particular calling even though they went through challenges. And how God was able to use those challenges to bring about good and accomplish His will. With that in mind, let’s begin our second installment in Ephesians 3 for a message titled, “The Prisoner of Grace” for today’s encouragement in Sound Doctrine.

Since Jesus Christ is the cornerstone, the heart of the church, the head of the church, the Chief Shepherd. Since He is the One whom is holding all things together, in His church, in our lives, in our world. So we can be assured that we have a great God and Savior in Jesus Christ who accomplishes His will in our lives according to His perfect plan. As Pastor Jeff finishes the message titled, “Welcome to the Family,” he continues to give wonderful assurances of Jesus’ role and position in the church, reminding us of the role and position He desires in our lives. With our final study in Ephesians 2, let’s begin our study in Sound Doctrine

When it comes to spending time with believers, it is a blessing. But on occasion Christians have also been referred to as porcupines. Because we both needle each other, but we also need each other. Today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff Johnson echoes that sentiment as he shows us that Jesus is our cornerstone and we are living stones. And as with the construction of the temple, the stones were so assembled that at times there was a lot of pressure and irritation, so it is like the Lord to use brothers and sisters at times to be a part of the trials we experience. But with those trials comes great growth and lessons of leaning on Jesus. And with that backdrop of being built together in Christ, here is Pastor Jeff with our message titled, “Welcome to the Family” in Ephesians 2.

In the sermon on the mount Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God.” That statement is found to be especially true in Jesus Christ, when He came to eradicate the deep-seated animosity between various groups and cultures in the world today. Pastor Jeff Johnson shows us how incredibly effective this removing enmity is through the cross, showing us examples in the church, both then and now. With more on that, we invite you to join us in our study titled, “Welcome to the Family” in Ephesians 2 with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

America is no stranger to racial tension. From the very beginning when settlers and Native Americans clashed all throughout history to slavery, segregation in schools, and protests taking place even in recent years. Just a glance at the current state of affairs between races will reveal all is not well in America, and for that matter planet earth as well. Today on Sound Doctrine the Apostle Paul shows how Christ has abolished, broken down the separation, and removed the enmity that exists. Pastor Jeff Johnson shows us the depth of the work of Christ to make this happen, and how it applies to our everyday lives. With that in mind, let’s listen to our final installment in Ephesians 2 titled, “He is Our Peace” with Pastor Jeff.

The world we live in is a system that is opposed to God and His people. Jesus said, “In the world you shall have tribulation.” To possess genuine peace in this world can only come through Jesus Christ by His reconciliation to God by the cross. As Pastor Jeff Johnson explains today, we don’t simply have the peace of Jesus, we have Jesus who is our peace. And though it may sound like a small distinction, it literally makes all the difference...in the world. With more on our study titled, “He is our Peace” here’s Pastor Jeff in Ephesians chapter 2.

When it comes to being in the world, but not of the world, it can be a challenge at times for believers. The desire to not offend others and blend in can be so strong that we end up compromising what it means to be the called out ones as the church is referred to in the NT. However, Pastor Jeff reminds us that the Word says we are lights and to be separate from the world in order to be effective in showing the world that the Jesus lives within us. It’s part 1 of our study titled, “He is Our Peace” in Ephesians chapter 2. We invite you to join us with Pastor Jeff for today’s edition of Sound Doctrine.

Proverbs 16:18 says that Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. There are times in our lives with Jesus when we can become so distant from God that we begin to think that the blessings we encounter come from our hands instead of our loving Father’s. In today’s installment of Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff Johnson reminds us of the purpose of God’s work for us, in us, and through us. And that the title for our study as well.  And when we allow God to work in our lives, He keeps us from that destructive behavior which leads us away from Him. With our final segment in this study, we encourage you to join us in Ephesians chapter for today’s encouragement in Sound Doctrine.

The Italian violinist Nicolo Paganini was playing in front of a full house when one his violin strings broke, and then another and another until only one was left. Then he held up his violin and shouted, “Paganini and one string!” And skillfully finished his piece to a roaring applause. Today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff Johnson takes us through Ephesians 2 as we look at God’s Work for us, in us, and through us. And much like Paganini accomplished much with very little, so too our God is able to do so much through our lives, to His glory. With more on our study in Ephesians 2, here now is Pastor Jeff.

It’s one thing for the world to think that by their behavior or actions they are able to earn a spot into heaven. As believers we recognize that those are works that Paul speaks against in Ephesians 2. However, there are many believers who practically act like their actions earn them special status with God while at the same time confessing that they live by grace. In today’s edition of Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff helps us to see that grace must be received initially and continually as we walk with the Lord as His free gift. Join us for the next few moments in Ephesians 2 for our study titled, “God’s work for us, in us, and through us.” for today’s message in Sound Doctrine.
