In the same way, there is a loss of people feeling like they’re being heard as well, living lives of quiet desperation as Thoreau once penned. Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path, David said in Psalm 119. But for many it’s not God’s word that illuminates people’s lives, instead, it’s their smartphone, for others it’s the stock market news, and still for others it’s their spouse or family.
