Marriage and the Curse - Part 1, Episode 3

October 8, 2018

When it comes to marriage there’s good news and bad news and good news again. The good news is that God has designed the perfect marriage. The bad news is that since the fall of mankind, marriage is impacted as well. But the best news is that even under those circumstances, Christ can elevate marriage from the bondage of sin and the curse.  Pastor Jeff Johnson explains in our time in Ephesians as we learn the roles that God has not only called us to, but designed us for. More on that as we learn about Marriage and the Curse - Part 1 in our Monday edition of Sound Doctrine.

One of the most overlooked facts about the creation of man and woman is that when God first designed them the intention was to create them for one another. And God chose the best part and the best place from the man to create the woman. He chose the strongest substance from man to make woman. And yet the perfect recipe was marred by sin from the fall. As we look at how marriage has been impacted by the curse, Pastor Jeff gives us Biblical instruction on how to reverse the curse through Christ for marriage. Join us in Ephesians 5 for our study titled, “Marriage and the Curse” with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

When it comes to raising our children in the ways of the Lord, some lessons are taught, but some lessons are caught. And without the harmony in marriage between a husband and wife, it is a challenging proposition. When only one person is rowing the boat, you end up going in circles. As we dig a little deeper in Ephesians today, Pastor Jeff concludes the importance and benefits of the harmony in marriage, emphasizing the wife’s role today. Don’t forget to join us tomorrow as we look more into how to overcome challenges in marriage. For now, join us in Ephesians 5 for our study with Pastor Jeff in today’s edition of Sound Doctrine.

How does a family of two working people make life work while raising our children in the way of the Lord? For many it seems like an impossibility. Thought we hear talk about the booming economy, for many it seems like it’s out of reach for their own bottom line, causing both parents to work. Pastor Jeff Johnson helps us to see that God’s economy works out when the economy of world doesn’t seem to add up. And as we take to heart and put into practice trusting in the Lord, we will begin to see how God is able to make it work. With more on our study in Ephesians 5, here is Pastor Jeff for today’s exhortation in Sound Doctrine.

When God created marriage, He intended it to have harmony. For harmony to be maintained, both husband and wife have roles that are given by God. So when it comes to the roles in marriage being used as a tool to oppress the wife, God neither created it, nor condones it. As we look into Ephesians 5 in today’s broadcast, the apostle Paul shows us that submission in marriage and the model of the church submitting to Jesus have intersecting lines and application. We’re glad you could join us today. We invite you to our study titled, “To Walk in Harmony - the Wife - Part 2” in Sound Doctrine with Pastor Jeff Johnson

And when we follow His design He blesses our obedience in any arena. Someone once said that the future is always beginning now. That is certainly true when it comes to relationships. And especially true when it comes to marriage relationships. The foundation that wives lay with their unsaved husbands, will pave the way for whether they are drawn close to Jesus or not. In our Sound Doctrine installment today, Pastor Jeff Johnson reminds us that though some marriage situations are not ideal with an unsaved husband, through the wive’s example of Christ’s love and submission, God is able to do a lot when their hearts are surrendered to Jesus’ example as He was with the Father. With more on that, let’s open our Bibles to Ephesians 5 for the message titled, “To Walk in Harmony - The Wife - Part 1” with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

Whether you’ve been married for two, ten, or twenty years or more the landscape of marriage is changing. And it is changing rapidly. We live in a world where culture determines what is right or wrong, and time reverses morals simply because time changes others things. In today’s edition of Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff Johnson helps us to see how being filled with God’s Spirit has an impact on the relationship of a husband and a wife. And as we look at the wife’s role, we realize that submission offers the key to victory in all relationships. With that in mind, let’s join Pastor Jeff in Ephesians 5 for our study titled, “To Walk in Harmony, the Wife - Part 1 in today’s edition of Sound Doctrine.

The two shall become one. That has been God’s design for marriage since the beginning. Yet since the Fall of Adam and Eve the roles of marriage have been thrown off balance. From the women’s liberation movement to male dominated roles just to name a few, marriage has been under attack. That’s why in today’s study in Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff clarifies some strongly held carnal beliefs regarding marriage and submission. It’s taken from our study in Ephesians titled, “The Power of Submission.” That’s why we invite you to join us for the next few minutes as we explore God’s design for the wives in today’s edition of Sound Doctrine with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

One rotten apple spoils a whole barrel. How many times have we hear that or even said it ourselves? When it comes to the idea of submission in marriage, it is a response to the submission in our walk with God that’s already in place. Too often however, the carnal nature corrupts what God designs. Pastor Jeff Johnson points out the flaws and the fix to the improper response to submission in marriage. It’s all part of our continuing studies in the book of Ephesians. So, if you are able, grab your Bible and turn to Ephesians 5:22 for the message titled, “The Power of Submission” for today’s encouragement in Sound Doctrine.
