Maranatha, The Lord Cometh - Episode 1

May 3, 2019

With the increase of technology, we notice how it has helped believers grow in their understanding of the Word, Bible Prophecy, and current events as a part of the unfolding End Times. But Pastor Jeff Johnson is also quick to show how the sinfulness of humanity isn’t improved by technology, but exploited. Now we see social media giving instant access to people venting and complaining over things they may have been discreet about before. All these play into the Thessalonians situation as they were dealing with false reports about the return of Jesus Christ. Pastor Jeff gives us keys to understanding His return so we’re mature in our understanding of the Word. With that, let’s open to 2 Thessalonians 2 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

The Bible tells us that we were created for God and we exist by His will. As we live lives that please and glorify God, that fulfills His purpose for our lives. As Pastor Jeff Johnson is showing us Paul’s prayer of encouragement, this final prayer request for God to be glorified in the lives of the church of Thessalonica as they went through persecution as they went through their trials. It’s important to the Lord to see how we glorify Him when things go well, as well as when we face trials and persecutions. So with more on that, let’s join Pastor Jeff in 2 Thessalonians for our message titled, “Encouragement Through Prayer” for our time in Sound Doctrine.

Trials don’t make a person, but they reveal what is in that person when they come along. Pastor Jeff Johnson shows through the church in Thessalonica that through hardships the heart is revealed. And as we come along the trials that we face, we need to ask the Lord to build up our worth as we experience those hardships. While we don’t like the trials that we experience, we can face them head on, knowing that God has a plan in it to refine us so that our faith will come out to praise, honor, and glory when Jesus Christ is revealed to this world. So, with our study titled, “Encouragement Through Prayer,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in 2 Thessalonians 1 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

When you hear people say that they refuse to believe in a God who sends people to hell, what is your reaction? Do you cringe with fear? Or do you realize that the world creates a 2 dimensional version of a God of love, who doesn’t require any justice? As we continue in 2 Thessalonians, Pastor Jeff Johnson helps us to see that while God is love, there is a timetable to His patience with a world that continues to reject and harden their hearts against a God who loves them in Jesus Christ. With that and more, join us in our study titled, “The Good and Bad News” in 2 Thessalonians 1 for our time in Sound Doctrine with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

And as they continued to demonstrate their worthiness by the endurance of trials they experienced, they were encouraged by Paul the apostle. But to those who don’t know the Lord, the way of the transgressor is hard. As those in the Great Tribulation will discover. So we invite you to join us for our study titled, “The Good and the Bad News” in 2 Thessalonians 1 for our stirring time in Sound Doctrine with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

While we don’t rush into trials, God has given us one who experienced suffering and trials that exceed anything we will experience in Jesus’ life. Pastor Jeff says that we can have confidence that Jesus will never leave us nor forsake us in our desperate and dark hours because He Himself experienced darkness in the Garden of Gethsemane and at the cross. Paul the apostle testified that the life and power of Jesus is present in his life, even while the sufferings and trials were trying to pull him down. Don’t miss these crucial principles in our study today. Join us in 2 Thessalonians for our study titled, “The Good and the Bad News” in our time of Sound Doctrine.

When it comes to trials no one usually rushes into them. But when they do come, our response to them is telling. As we look at the way in which the church in Thessalonica handled their circumstances, we notice how Paul commends their patience and endurance through trials of persecution. Pastor Jeff reminds us that God wants to actively work through the trials that we experience as well, if we will allow Him.  And as the enemy seeks to weaken us through our trials, we are reminded that we need to run to the Lord and He will work on our behalf. With more on our study titled, “Encouragement in Suffering,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in 2 Thessalonians 1 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

It begins with the words, “Our Father in heaven…” and thus began the recognition that we could call upon Almighty God as close as our very own personal parent. As we begin our new series in the book of 2 Thessalonians, Pastor Jeff Johnson helps us to see God’s purpose in the pain we go through. God doesn’t allow us to simply suffer for no reason, but allows maturity, growth, and depth with Him to be the precious fruit from painful soil. On January 29th 1886, man invented the power of the combusion engine. On November 1, 1952, the world learned the power of the first hydrogen bomb. But it’s been over 2,000 years and God’s people still haven’t grasped the power of God’s word. As Pastor Jeff Johnson finishes our time in the book of 1 Thessalonians we discover Paul’s view of God’s Word as a necessary component for God’s people to be read to the church. And our growth is in direct proportion to the time we spend in it. So, with our final study in 1 Thessalonians 5 here’s Pastor Jeff with our study titled, “My Prayer for You.”
