How to be Used and Led by God (Part 1) Episode 1

November 6, 2019

How does God lead us? With what kind of a voice does He speak when He wants to move us? And how do we recognize it? These are all questions that every believer has asked at one time or another. These questions lead us to the case of Philip and the Ethipian Eunuch. God called an ordinary person who was walking in prayer to do an extraordinary thing fueled and empowered by His Holy Spirit. And as Pastor Jeff lays out important principles from the message, “How to Be Led and Used by God,” we will see some things we may already be doing, and others we need to embrace. With more in Acts 8, let’s open the word for our time in Sound Doctrine.

Counterfeits within the church have existed for a long time. They infiltrate  and insinuate themselves among believers while trying to influence the church to follow them. Pastor Jeff shows us that though Simon appeared to be a believer, he was a counterfeit who was confronted by Peter about his sin. He helps us to see that the best way to expose the counterfeit, or lie is by dwelling in the real, which is God’s Word. Join us as we finish our study titled, “The Enemy Within - Part 2” in Acts 8 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

What is truly within you? And what or whom do you rely upon when it comes to serving the Lord? Self or the Holy Spirit? As we resume our study in Acts 8 we go from the believers being filled with God’s Spirit a man being filled with greed and self so that he could purchase the Holy Spirit’s power for himself. Pastor Jeff cautions us against following Simon’s ways, who had the wrong ambition to be recognized as someone great in the church. Join us as we continue in Acts 8 with our study titled, “The Enemy Within - Part 2 with Pastor Jeff.

Isaiah says, “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him.” As we continue to look at the man and the methods that Satan used in trying to infiltrate the church, Pastor Jeff points to how God is able to cause us to resist him by the baptism of the Holy Spirit. As we are filled with the Spirit, God reserves the right to how, in what capacity, and in what way He will defeat the enemy. We invite you to join us as we resume our study in Acts 8 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

In world war 2, France’s eastern fortification, called the Maginot Line, was said to be impregnable against German forces. But the Nazis easily overran it in 1940. Pastor Jeff says that there is a Maginot Line kind of thinking among many who go to church. They have a head-knowledge kind of faith without actually repenting or leaning upon Jesus. It gives them a false sense of security and the enemy uses their unchecked carnality to sometimes damage the fellowship. We continue to look at Simeon who typifies this kind of behavior. So join us in Acts 8 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

Is there a problem with the spiritual temperature of the church as a whole? Pastor Jeff says that there is, and has been, for some time. And as we delve into the book of Acts, he shows a picture and a pattern for the root of the problem in the church today. It centers around Simon the sorcerer. Pastor Jeff says that, like Simon, there have been many people who have deceived believers infiltrating the church of God. And there are things we need to know and things we need to do. So, with that in mind, let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 8 for our understanding in Sound Doctrine.

If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. While it’s an American proverb that dates back to the 1930’s, the book of Acts reveals that Satan has been using since the birth of the church. We discover in our study today, how Satan changed his attack from persecution of the church to perforation of the church. And how that tactic is still in effect today. Then we will discover what the church’s response is supposed to be. With more on that, let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 8:9 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

Though it may sound strange to some, God commands His people to rejoice in the Lord in 3 separate places in the NT. Today Pastor Jeff says that even when trials and challenges come along, the Christian is able to possess the joy of Jesus. He tells us that this is something we can receive from the Lord by His Spirit. No matter what trials we experience in the world, we will have victory because Jesus has already overcome the world. With the final message on, “Persecution, Seed of the Church - Part 2,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 8 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

Saint Augustine said, “For God judged it better to bring good out of evil than not to permit any evil to exist.” As we watch the church experiencing the effects of persecution, Pastor Jeff shows how God was able to bring good out of the challenges of persecution. And through their response, God sent Philip to preach Christ to a group of people prepared by Jesus and ready to receive the Gospel. He uses this example to show us the priority of God’s word first, and then the Lord confirmed His word with miracles after, never the other way around. With more on our study o Persecution, the Seed of the Church, Part 2, let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 8.

The word of God is sharper than any two edged sword. It reveals the thoughts and intentions of our hearts, and helps us to discern between what is spiritual and what is natural. And as we continue our studies on the effects of the persecution of the church, Pastor Jeff helps us to see how the power of the word in a person’s life is able to accomplish the work that God sent it out for. And as we allow the Lord to speak to us through His word, we too will be changed by its illuminating power, shining into the dark areas that the Lord wants to liberate us in. With more on our study from Acts 8, let’s join Pastor Jeff for our time in Sound Doctrine.

It’s been said that the one thing that Satan doesn’t want Christians to be engaged in is sharing the Gospel. And in hopes of quenching the growth of the church and the Gospel, he began to persecute the church. However, God had other plans. And what Satan intended for evil, God meant for good, and used it to save many people during that time and our time as well. Pastor Jeff shares what Satan initiated and how God reciprocated in using Persecution as the seed of the church. So join us in Acts 8 for our time in Sound Doctrine.
