He Is Our Peace, Part 2

June 19, 2018

The world we live in is a system that is opposed to God and His people. Jesus said, “In the world you shall have tribulation.” To possess genuine peace in this world can only come through Jesus Christ by His reconciliation to God by the cross. As Pastor Jeff Johnson explains today, we don’t simply have the peace of Jesus, we have Jesus who is our peace. And though it may sound like a small distinction, it literally makes all the difference...in the world. With more on our study titled, “He is our Peace” here’s Pastor Jeff in Ephesians chapter 2.

When it comes to being in the world, but not of the world, it can be a challenge at times for believers. The desire to not offend others and blend in can be so strong that we end up compromising what it means to be the called out ones as the church is referred to in the NT. However, Pastor Jeff reminds us that the Word says we are lights and to be separate from the world in order to be effective in showing the world that the Jesus lives within us. It’s part 1 of our study titled, “He is Our Peace” in Ephesians chapter 2. We invite you to join us with Pastor Jeff for today’s edition of Sound Doctrine.

Proverbs 16:18 says that Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. There are times in our lives with Jesus when we can become so distant from God that we begin to think that the blessings we encounter come from our hands instead of our loving Father’s. In today’s installment of Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff Johnson reminds us of the purpose of God’s work for us, in us, and through us. And that the title for our study as well.  And when we allow God to work in our lives, He keeps us from that destructive behavior which leads us away from Him. With our final segment in this study, we encourage you to join us in Ephesians chapter for today’s encouragement in Sound Doctrine.

The Italian violinist Nicolo Paganini was playing in front of a full house when one his violin strings broke, and then another and another until only one was left. Then he held up his violin and shouted, “Paganini and one string!” And skillfully finished his piece to a roaring applause. Today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff Johnson takes us through Ephesians 2 as we look at God’s Work for us, in us, and through us. And much like Paganini accomplished much with very little, so too our God is able to do so much through our lives, to His glory. With more on our study in Ephesians 2, here now is Pastor Jeff.

It’s one thing for the world to think that by their behavior or actions they are able to earn a spot into heaven. As believers we recognize that those are works that Paul speaks against in Ephesians 2. However, there are many believers who practically act like their actions earn them special status with God while at the same time confessing that they live by grace. In today’s edition of Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff helps us to see that grace must be received initially and continually as we walk with the Lord as His free gift. Join us for the next few moments in Ephesians 2 for our study titled, “God’s work for us, in us, and through us.” for today’s message in Sound Doctrine.

Years ago there was a movie about the life of prisoners in Louisiana who were on death row. When it was their time for execution, they would walk what was referred to as the Green Mile, where the guards would call out, “Dead Man Walking” alerting all prisoners of their time of execution. Pastor Jeff Johnson says that the entire world is filled with people walking the Green Mile apart from Jesus Christ because of sin. And because of God’s love for us even in our sinful condition, He made us alive in Christ. It’s part of our study called, “Hopeless, but God.” With more on that incredible theme in Ephesians 2, let’s join Pastor Jeff in Sound Doctrine.

Isaiah 64:6 tells that our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. When it comes to man’s depravity, our culture believes that Christians are picking on their behavior. The apostle Paul shows us that our sinful state has more to do with our condition than with our behavior. Today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff Johnson shows 4 different ways in which sin has infected everyone and how God’s work has saved us from sin’s disastrous fallout. It’s another spiritual height in Ephesians 2 showing God’s great redemption. Join us for part one of our message titled, “Hopeless, But God” with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

Isn’t it true that the older you get, it seems that the body has more and more difficulty carrying out the commands from the head. You can’t seem to run as long, jump as high, or lift as much as you thought you could. Unfortuantely at times, the same is true for believers. The further they seem to walk along with Jesus Christ as their head, the less they respond as His body. In today’s edition of Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff Johnson reminds us that it is vitally important for us to give the more earnest heed to the things we hear from God’s Word or we will slip away.  With our final study titled, “He’s the Head” in Ephesians 1, here now is Pastor Jeff Johnson.

The more we see news on our devices and tvs, the more we realize that our world is in the End Times. As you watch nations threaten nations and political tensions increase, it’s no wonder why more and more drs. tell us that the greatest risk to our health is stress. Pastor Jeff reminds us that what we see happening in the End Times doesn’t have to impact His children as it impacts those who don’t know Christ. Like the man in Psalm 1 the things we delight in will determine our direction. As we delight in the Lord, we will have peace. We encourage you to learn more in our study titled, “He’s the Head” in Ephesians 1 with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

As believers there are times in our lives when we ask God for more of HIs Spirit, more of His power to be made known to us. However, today on Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff Johnson says that we don’t need more power. We need to realize the power that is already available to us in Christ. He shows us Jesus Christ is Head over all things to the church. With that in mind, we encourage you to join us in Ephesians 1 for our study titled, “He’s the Head” with Pastor Jeff Johnson.
