God's Work of Conversion (Part 2) Episode 2

November 20, 2019

It’s been said that the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. When God called Ananias to lay hands on Paul, it was the last thing that he imagined he would have to do because Paul was a feared foe of Christianity. But Pastor Jeff teaches us that God has plans for us that we can’t conceive until we take steps of faithful obedience. And we need to trust Him regardless of our fears or understanding. Tune in for our second installment of part 2 of our study titled, “God’s work of Conversion.” Join us in Acts 9 with Pastor Jeff for more insights into Sound Doctrine.

For many people the circumstances of their conversion is unforgettable. Those who were there, and what they experienced. Such was the case with Saul of Tarsus. It is referred to no less than three times. Because God wanted us to see how Paul’s first question and the goal of his life was about living for what Jesus called him to do. When we come to the Lord, Pastor Jeff helps us to see that when we ask God the same question, He will show us His plan for our lives so that we are experiencing His life of fulfillment and blessings. With more on our study titled, “God’s Work of Conversion Part 2” let’s join Pastor Jeff in our time in Sound Doctrine.

You’ve shared the love of God. You’ve given them verses from Scripture to open their eyes about their true spiritual condition. But that unbelieving person still doesn’t respond. Someone once said that when we tell people about Jesus, we are called to “Comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.” Today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff says maybe what they need is to have God bring that person to the end of themselves by a challenging circumstance because He will be there to help and save them through Jesus Christ. We finish our study titled, “God’s Work of Conversion Part 1” in Acts 9. So, let’s join Pastor Jeff in our time in Sound Doctrine.

“Impossible, It’ll never happen, anyone but that person.” If these are some of the phrases you have heard to describe someone who doesn’t know the Lord, take heart. They may be the very person whom the Lord will save one day. And while we might take for granted that Paul the Apostle is one of the most well known saints in the Bible, his story certainly didn’t start out that way. Pastor Jeff helps us to see the glorious conversion of Paul was displayed against a pitch black background leading up to that fateful day. And how we need to take heart when it comes to the infamous non-believers in our lives as we pray for them. With more on that, let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 9.

Flying from one spot to another just requires us to show up on our part. However, there are so many working pieces and people in the background that cause us to reach our destination. In a similar way, we see how God’s Work of Conversion in the believer is similar. Today Pastor Jeff helps us to see what God was doing in the background of the Apostle Paul that caused him to come to faith in Christ. And how does that work to change each of us to being new creations in Christ. For more on that topic, let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 9 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

In today’s installment of Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff contrasts a tale of two conversions. He shows how one was genuine, one was false. One was characterized by joy and obedience to the Lord, and the other was marked by self promotion and pride. He reminds us that each believer is called to examine the sincerity of their own walk with God. And then calls for a genuine repentance if we are playing games with the Lord. With a fitting end to our study in Acts 8, let’s join Pastor Jeff for our time in Sound Doctrine.

He followed the Lord when God uprooted him from a flourishing ministry. He went where it didn’t make sense. And now seeing how the Lord put all the disparate pieces of the puzzle together in preparing him, Philip shared the Gospel with an Ethiopian Eunuch traveling in the desert. Pastor Jeff shows us how God’s Word was the center of their conversation, and how it needs to be the center of all that we communicate as we share the good news of Jesus Christ. With our final installment of the study titled, “How to Be Led and Used by God,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 8 for our instruction in Sound Doctrine.

You’d probably be hard pressed to find a sincere believer in Jesus who doesn’t want to be led or used by God. But the challenge is in doing what he requires us to do in order to be directed and available to Him. As we continue our second study titled, “How to Be Led and Used by God,” Pastor Jeff show that the ways in which the Lord used Philip sometimes didn’t make sense...to us. But after we take steps of faith and obedience, God begins to fill in the blanks and helps us to understand what He is doing. So join us in Acts 8 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

Taking a step of faith is uncomfortable and can be a little scary at times. But it is absolutely necessary as we walk with the Lord. When we take those steps, we discover that the Lord adds depth to our obedience and faith that otherwise wouldn’t exist without it. As we finish our first part of the study, “How to be Led and Used by God” Pastor Jeff shows us how quick was Philipp’s willingness to run towards obedience instead of away, and how we can do the same. With more in Acts 8, let’s join Pastor Jeff in our time in Sound Doctrine.

With no attraction to see why, Philip was called by God to go to the desert. And he went! Why? Because Philip was a man who was surrendered to God’s will above all else in his life. It’s been said that when I person wants to know God’s will for their life, they need to be willing to say, “I will” to God first. That is, they need to have a willingness to do whatever the Lord may reveal. Today Pastor Jeff outlines 3 basic principles of knowing, “How to Be Led and Used by God,” in our study. We need to remember that He wants to lead us, but we need to be willing to follow His will one step at a time. With more on that let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 8 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

How does God lead us? With what kind of a voice does He speak when He wants to move us? And how do we recognize it? These are all questions that every believer has asked at one time or another. These questions lead us to the case of Philip and the Ethipian Eunuch. God called an ordinary person who was walking in prayer to do an extraordinary thing fueled and empowered by His Holy Spirit. And as Pastor Jeff lays out important principles from the message, “How to Be Led and Used by God,” we will see some things we may already be doing, and others we need to embrace. With more in Acts 8, let’s open the word for our time in Sound Doctrine.
