God Provides, Part 1

Through debts, bankruptcy, and an economic crisis, it's easy to become discouraged, and even depressed.  But as a believer in Christ, we could be encouraged, because He has overcomes the world.  On todays program we'll learn about a woman in the scriptures who owed a heavey debt.  But through God's provision she was able to overcome.  Listen in as Pastor Jeff begins part 1 of a message called "God Provides."

Many times the scriptures relate God's Word to physical food.  The Psalmist wrote that it's sweeter than honey.  And we read in Job that God's Word is to be treasured more than our natural daily food.  Feasting upon the Word is vital for growth and to sustain a believer in spiritual battle.  Today, Pastor Jeff will give us practical examples from our study in 2 Kings chapter 3.

2 Timothy 3:16 says "all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in reighteousness."  Today we'll learn taht the Word of God is vital for every direction of our lives.  Without it, there's no peace and uncertainty.  Pastor Jeff teaches an example of this from 2 Kings chapter 3.

God is good and soverign.  The Bible says that He loves and cares for us.  He's the One that provides the breath in our lungs, and He's the One that keeps our heart beating.  In trials we can rest upon His promise, that "all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose."

Jesus told His disciples that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon them.  The Spirit then empowered them to be witnesses for Christ.  This same power is available for all believers today, and it's essential to have in trials and hard times.  Today we'll continue to look at the example of Job, and learn from his witness in his time of testing.

Trials and hard times are a natural part of any life.  But for a born-again believer in Christ, Jesus is with you in the storm.  We could search the scriptures and see many examples of trials.  But there's none better than the Old Testament character of Job.  We'll learn about this man in our New Years message called "The Job Syndrome."

On this day after Christmas, we'll continue to study the birth and mission of Jesus.  Pastor Jeff makes contrasts from the Nativity scene in Bethlehem, and the crucifixion scene on Calvary.  From His birth to His death, it was all done for you.  Stay tuned as we conclude a message called "From the Cradle, to the Cross, to the Crown" on Sound Doctrine.

John 3:16 is the key to a joyful giving Christmas.  It says "God so Loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son."  Salvation through Christ is the free gift of God.  On this Christmas edition of Sound Doctrine, we'll learn about the mission of Jesus that went from the cradle, to the cross, to the crown!

2,000 years ago in the little town of Bethlehem, Jesus the Son of the Living God was born of a women.  He was fully God and fully man, and He wa born with a mission to die.  His death and resurrection is the true essence of the Christmas Story.  As we give gifts this Christmas, let us not forget Jesus...the greatest gift that was given to mankind.

The prophet Micah pronounced a unique prophecy concerning a little town in the east called Bethlehem.  He said "But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you will come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting."  This prophecy was fulfilled more than 2,000 years ago when Jesus Christ was birthed into the world.  We'll learn some incredible details of this event in a message called "The Christmas Story."
