God Is In Control, Part 2

October 8, 2014
Although they don't feel good, trials and hard times shape the Christian.  In fact the book of James says "count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.  But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.  Today we'll continue our study in Acts 27 and learn that God is in control in the midst of our struggles.

In past and modern history, there have been countless men and women of God who have suffered greatly.  We read about the account of Job who lost everything he owned, and yet Job blessed and worshiped God.  We could study the life of the Apostle Paul who endured times of testing and sufferings.  But he said "I would rather boast in my infirmites so that the power of Christ may rest upon me."  Today Pastor Jeff will explain the reason for trials and tribulations in the life of the believer.

The Bible is filled with many promises.  We quote them and see them on our holiday cards, but Jesus had a specific promise for Christians that may not be as popular as the rest.  We find it in the book of John when He said "In the world you will have tribulation."  The question is, where will you run when crisis hits?

On our previous broadcast we learned about the supremacy of Christ.  He is the only One worthy of our worship.  Phillipians chapter 2 declares "God has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those on earth, and those under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."  We'll continue this thought as we conclude the series clled "The Second Coming Of Christ."

In the book of Romans it says "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."  Sin means missing the mark, and to God there is no room for imperfection.  But Jesus came as a Man without spot or blemish; He was and Is completely perfect.  Today Pastor Jeff explains that Jesus took our sins on the cross and all who receive Him are able to stand in His righteousness.
