First Jesus Movement, Part 3

October 6, 2016
When Jesus Christ called the disciples to follow Him, he meant it. The same is true when He called you. We are called to forsake all others, take up our cross and follow Him. Do you find yourself today, maybe not quite following him the way you did, when He first called you? We want to encourage you to follow along with Pastor Jeff in the series, “First Jesus Movement” and pray the Lord would speak to you about your current relationship with Him. We are in the Gospel of Mark chapter 1.

Those of us who have been Christians long enough have heard of the Jesus movement from the 60’s and 70’s. It was a great time of evangelism and discipleship. But it wasn’t the first. Christ came on the scene 2,000 years ago calling men and women to repentance. And that movement still continues today. We invite you to follow along with Pastor Jeff in Mark chapter 1, in the continuation of the series, “First Jesus Movement.”

Pastor Jeff was apart of the Jesus movement in the 60-70’s. As great as it was, it actually wasn’t the first. 2,000 years ago in the small fishing town of Gallalle, Jesus called his disciples and others to follow after Him. Today on Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff is reminding us from Mark Chapter 1, that Jesus is still calling many to follow after Him. This is the new series titled, “First Jesus Movement”.

The last of the Old Testament prophets concludes with John The Baptist. He was the herald of Christ to ready the people’s hearts to receive Messiah. Jesus would call him the greatest of all the prophets. But this didn’t go to his head. He was a humble man, and knew that he was unworthy. The more time we spend with God, the reality of our sinful state should humble us, as it did John. This is the conclusion to the study titled, “Introduction to Mark.”

Pastor Jeff is in the introduction still of the book of Mark. This book is condensed into only 16 chapters, but it is jam packed with Jesus’s miracles and teachings. Today Pastor Jeff will teach us that Christ’s public ministry comprised of Him caring for people. That same care is extended to us today. We invite you to turn to the Gospel of Mark and follow along in the study titled, “Introduction to Mark.”

And he wants you to know of the same living hope that he carried with him, through the rest of his life. Today on Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff concludes his final study in the book Romans, chapter 16. We will hear from the heart of Apostle Paul, as he signs off to the church at Rome. This is the study, “Paul’s final encouragement.”

We are currently in Romans chapter 16. We can spend time studying the Word, and be on alert for false teachers, that try to plant false teaching with in the church. But, how many of us are being watchful with our own witness at home. The home is the most precious, and valuable of all ministries, and yet, neglected. Today on Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff will challenge us to be excellent at witnessing to our families, and children. This is the conclusion to the study titled, “Final Warning with Promise.”

With the many different denominations in our country, it has become easier for the enemies of the Gospel, to infiltrate the church. On todays edition of  Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff is continuing on in his study, about the charlatans who devour the flock of the Lord. This is the second half of the study, “Warning with Promise.”
