Characteristics of an Effective Evangelist - Episode 2

February 26, 2019

Israel was pulled away from the Lord more and more when they kept their eyes on the lifestyles of the enemy. And consequently they began to worship things that were immobile instead of the Living God. The same is true for us, as we long for the world instead of loving the Lord, we will long for those things that will draw us away from the Lord. However, Pastor Bill reminds us that the sins and the strengths that parents have are handed to their children. And as parents seek to glorify the Lord more than anything, that will be passed down as well. So, join us as we learn about Unfinished Business in Joshua 15-17 for our time in the Transforming Word.

What does it take to have radical faith? An unswerving dedication to living according to what is unseen, yet real. When in the course of life, many unbelievers live and die only by what they can see, those who live by faith experience an abundance of life in comparison. And through that trusting in God’s Word and promises He gives victory. As we resume our studies in Joshua, Pastor Bill reminds us that the same Lord who accomplished great things through Israel, is waiting to give us the keys to an abundance of life as we walk by faith like Caleb. With more on that, let’s turn to Joshua 15 for our time in the Transforming Word.

When it comes to sharing the Gospel and seeing others coming to know the Lord, besides gifting, why are some more successful at it than others? Pastor Jeff Johnson reminds us of several characteristics that Paul the Apostle exemplified as he devoted his life to the believers at the church in Thessalonica. He then instructs us in those Scriptures that show how we too can be successful in sharing the Gospel with others in our homes, areas of work, and school as well. And as we put those things into practice in line with our gifting, we too will see the Lord bless those times of sharing the Gospel. As we look into the “Characteristics of an Effective Evangelist,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in 1 Thessalonians 2 for our encouragement in Sound Doctrine.

There are two ways we can live in this life among others. We can walk in the way that is afraid of what others will say and do, or we will walk in the knowing those things that please the Lord and follow His ways. As we look at the apostle Paul’s claims to his behavior with the church in Thessalonica, Pastor Jeff shows that Paul’s main concern was making sure he was following God’s mandate instead of the whims and wishes of others. And as we make God’s word our manual for life, we will be walking in less apprehension and fear and we will take more ground for the kingdom. With more on that, let’s begin our

When you borrow something of value from a friend, you do your best to take extra good care of it. You want to return it to them in the same condition or better than what you received. The same is true when it comes to receiving the Gospel. God wants us to take such care to share it with others so that at the end, He will say, “Well done good and faithful servants, enter into the joy of your Lord.” Pastor Jeff shows how this was Paul’s attitude with the Gospel for the Thessalonians, and how we can have the same mindset today. With more, let’s join Pastor Jeff in 1 Thessalonians 2 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

When it comes to giving a defense on Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, there are some who simply don’t believe. They may accuse the Christian of trying to deceive others because we have been deceived. But as Pastor Jeff Johnson teaches, the truth of the Gospel can be easily tested by simply believing it and experiencing the life that Jesus promised. It is a life that surpasses the previous life we have lived. As Jesus says, we can have an abundance of life. So

The single greatest threat to people believing in Jesus is Christians themselves. Those who are both willing to profess Jesus as Lord verbally, yet physically deny Him with their actions and lifestyle. As we take finish our study titled, “Being a Witness” Pastor Jeff rounds out our message by warning against hypocrisy and shares its devastating effects both near and far. It is one of the churches leading maladies that impairs its witness to this world. God desires us to be free from offense in a world that is looking for the authentic and real. It’s been said that the personality of the spiritual leader influences others because it is penetrated, saturated, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Whether or not we know it, God is reaching others through your life. And in our time in Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff is revealing Paul’s example of being bold in our God to speak to others the Gospel of God. As we continue to use God’s Word in our lives, our burden and vision to see others come to know the Lord will grow. With more on that join us in 1 Thessalonians 2 as we consider ways in which God has called us in this lifestyle of “Being a Witness” for today’s time in Sound Doctrine.

When it comes to the ways of God, the Bible tells us that God works in ways we don’t always understand; they are higher than our ways. And when we serve the Lord with good intentions, the enemy will always attempt to distract, discourage, or defeat our labor in the Lord. But Pastor Jeff Johnson says that we don’t have to faint when this happens because God is able to work these things out for the good. So when your reputation, your words, your intentions are misunderstood or maligned, consider the principles from our time in 1 Thessalonians as we begin our message titled, “Being a Witness” for our time in Sound Doctrine.

As we consider the deliverance that Jesus offers from the false gods of this world, we also experience the deliverance from the highs and lows as complete surrender comes to Him. Pastor Jeff completes our study in 1 Thessalonians as we look at the answer of the study titled, “What’s the Church to do?” Pastor Jeff helps us to see the ways in which we are delivered. The word idolatry isn’t something that is used alot in our culture today; that is, in a negative sense. We have TV shows whose names include it. But when it comes to pursuing an idol, that thought is relegated to ancient history. However, in today’s edition of Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff Johnson says idolatry still exists today. And when people come to Christ today, there is still a conscientious turning to God from idols just as it was back then. With more on this significant area of Christianity, let’s turn to 1 Thessalonians for our study in Sound Doctrine.
