We’ve all heard the phrase, “Don’t reinvent the wheel.” When it comes to how the early church lived, that is especially true. Because embedded in the pages of Scripture Pastor Jeff Johnson gives us a model or blueprint from the Holy Spirit to the path of successful Christian living. It is something, not just for certain superchristians, but for every believer in Jesus Christ. As we put these principles into practice in our lives, we will see the Lord blessing our lives. Take a listen to our first study titled, “Being an Acts 2:42 Christian” with Pastor Jeff Johnson for our time in Sound Doctrine.

It’s been said that maybe one of the reasons why Christians don’t share the Gospel is because they believe that people will actually say yes. And not knowing how to lead them to Christ presents some Christians with fear. That brings us to our passage in the book of Acts today. Pastor Jeff Johnson shows the right response to those whom have heard and are ready to commit their lives to Jesus. We are shown what key elements are necessary in our understanding and in communicating the life-changing truths. With our final study titled, “The First Gospel Message,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 2

An epiphany is defined in two ways: an appearance or manifestation of a deity, or a sudden intuitive insight or perception. How shocked the crowd must have been in their epiphany to suddenly realize that Jesus was the long awaited Messiah as Peter reveals the Scriptures to them. Pastor Jeff Johnson helps us to see upack the Scriptures concerning Jesus and 7 facts concerning His identity and crucifixion. With our second installment titled, “The First Gospel Message,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 2 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

Was the crucifixion a big horrible accident, or did God intend something much deeper and long lasting for humanity? Not only was it intentional, but it was a divine necessity. As we continue our studies in the book of Acts, Pastor Jeff Johnson shares the need for Jesus to die for the sin of the world, and who shares the blame. We see 7 facts about Jesus as Peter preaches to the crowd in Jerusalem. During World War 1, in an effort to stir up patriotism and enrollment in the army, the now iconic poster of a stoic Uncle Sam stands pointing a finger to any passerby with three simple words, “I Want You”. And from the powerful testimony in Acts 2, Pastor Jeff Johnson helps us to see that God is still pleading with His people with the simple, yet powerful words of calling us to serve Him as the first church once did in the book of Acts. We encourage you to join us for our study in Acts 2 titled, “The Church’s First Witness” with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

What the world doesn’t understand what God is doing, many times is met with ignorance, avoidance, or resistance. And though there are many who don’t always inquire as to what God is doing, God has sent the believers into the world to reveal the glorious Gospel of His Son, Jesus Christ. As Pastor Jeff takes us through the Day of Pentecost in Acts 2, he shows how the Lord used the crowd’s fascination to share the Gospel through the apostle Peter. It’s an encouragement for us to see areas to share the Gospel as well. With our second installment of the study titled, “The Church’s First Witness,” let’s open to Acts 2 with Pastor Jeff Johnson.

kWhen God poured out His power on the church, the city was full of people. Lives were being transformed while the Lord was working through the first believers in Jerusalem, but that applied only to those who were actually in the upper room. Pastor Jeff Johnson goes on to show how the same is true in our lives today. When the Lord wants to pour out His Spirit on us, lives are transformed as we make ourselves available. He also wants to use anyone today who is willing to take a step of obedience and allow their lives to be used for His glory. With our study titled, “The Church’s First Witness,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 2.

Why does it look like when a believer is baptized in the Holy Spirit? Must all Christians speak in tongues as the evidence of being baptized in the Holy Spirit? For all the talk on Christian TV, conferences, and unbiblical teaching concerning the Holy Spirit, Pastor Jeff Johnson gives answers to some of the most often asked questions of concern for believers. If you’ve had misgivings from strange behavior that others have attributed to God, you’ll want to learn more in our final installment titled, “Receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.” With more on that, let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 2.

Does God’s Spirit still work in the church today as He did in the early church? Or is that baptism of the Holy Spirit only effective through the book of Acts? When we hear some believers claim that God no longer works the same way by His Spirit in the church, Pastor Jeff says gives Scriptures to support that He is indeed still working in a powerful way in today’s believers. But we simply need to ask. With our third installment of our study titled, “Receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit,” let’s join Pastor Jeff in Acts 2 for our time in Sound Doctrine.

Many times Christians say to God, “Show me and then I’ll believe.” God says in response to the Christian, “Believe, and then you’ll see.”  When the Holy Spirit came upon the early church, His sound was heard first and then He was seen and experienced. Pastor Jeff says that is the familiar pattern God works in all believer’s lives as we walk with Him. And he continues to gives examples of that very principle in trusting first and then watching God move, rarely the other way around. Join us as we look into Acts 2 for our study titled, “Receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit,” for our time in Sound Doctrine.
