All Things for Good Part 3

We’re in Genesis chapter 37 today, where Joseph finds himself in a pit! But soon he would be in a palace. And it is a brilliant reminder of how God uses everything in His children’s lives for good. Keep that in mind the next time your life is in the pits.

As you’ll hear in a moment he’s about to have a dream that disturbed his brothers greatly. So much so, they wanted to kill him. It stands out in scripture as a reminder of what envy can do to us.

One might think his family would be thrilled upon hearing what God was communicating to Joseph. But there was a far different reaction as we’re about to see. Through it all we see what envy will do to us.

Today on Sound Doctrine we get back into Genesis. We left off in chapter 35, where God told Jacob to go back to Bethel, the place where he met him for the first time. Jacob made the choice to return to his first love. But now he’s going to deal with tremendous loss. Few things in life are as heart-wrenching as the death of your spouse or parent! Jacob would deal with both in this chapter of his life.

Do you believe God keeps His promises? I think every Christian would answer yes to that question, but do we really live like we believe it? Today we’ll see a shining example of God keeping His promises - even when it involves a man who really blew it. We’ll look at Genesis chapter thirty-five today, as we see more proof of a loving and faithful God. You’ll also be encouraged to return to your first love when you’ve been drifting.

Parents shirking their responsibilities and compromising in their walk… it’s not hard to see what that leads to. Very often children who do the very same. Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll take another look at Jacob’s family. It was a mess, and Jacob isn’t leading as he should, raising the kids in deceit. And the results of this compromise was nothing short of tragic.
