A Distant Relationship Brought Close Part 1a

January 11, 2021

In any relationship, whether it's a marriage or a friendship, can so easily deteriorate.  What once was solid as a rock, is now distant or strained.  It can also happen in our relationship with God, as we’ll learn today on Sound Doctrine.  So if things aren’t where they should be, between you and the Lord, be sure to join us.  I think you’ll get a lot out of this study from the Song of Solomon chapter five.

Find your place in Song of Solomon chapter four.  Pastor Jeff sees the love of God for us shining through this chapter, but also what our response should be to it.  Are you responding in love back to Him?  Let’s consider that together today, as we turn our eyes upon Jesus!

We’ve got a great study lined up for you from the Song of Solomon chapter four.  And it features a love letter from God to His bride, the church.  As we consider God’s great love for us today, it should provoke a certain response from us.  We’ll see what that is in part two of, “Oh How He Loves Me.”

Life has its ups and downs.  And maybe as you look at this past year, you’d say there were way more downs than ups!  But whatever comes our way, this truth remains, Jesus loves me!  Let’s find comfort in that today on Sound Doctrine as we dig deeper into the Song of Solomon.

Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.  I’m sure you remember singing that in Sunday School.  You could say the song we’ll hear today on Sound Doctrine, is quite similar.  You’ll find it in the Song of Solomon.  Pastor Jeff Johnson visits chapter four, which presents a couple of love songs, and the first could be aptly titled, “He only has eyes for her!”   Referring to God’s love for His bride, the church.

Where there is no vision, the people perish, says Proverbs 29:18.  So to say vision is important would be an understatement.  And today on Sound Doctrine we’ll gain God’s vision for the year ahead, to see what He’s up to in these last days.  When you come to realize Jesus is coming soon, it has a dramatic impact on the way you live.

Happy New Year from all of us at Sound Doctrine!  We’re excited to be able to kick off the year with you, with a special message from Pastor Jeff Johnson.  As we look together at the signs of the end of the age, given to us by Christ, it is becoming increasingly clear the return of Jesus is near!  This should excite the believer and prompt us to a certain way of living.  We'll see what that is in part one of Pastor Jeff’s message, “What to do!”

Frustration or fulfillment… which will it be for you?  That’s the choice before each of us today, just as it was in Solomon’s day.  Pastor Jeff Johnson is in the middle of his study in the Song of Solomon, and the plan is to complete chapter three on this last day of 2020!

I don’t if it’s the case for you, but with all the  trouble and turmoil this past year, have you seen your longing for the Lord’s return grow by leaps and bounds?   He could come any day now!  But what are we to be doing as we’re waiting?  That’s the question of the day as we dig deeper into Song of Solomon chapter three.

Those of you who are married, recall for a moment the days leading up to your wedding and then that special day itself. The anticipation, the overwhelming joy and excitement!  The Lord thought it all up.  He gave us marriage to be enjoyed and as a portrait of His relationship with His bride the church.   Pastor Jeff talks about this and more as he takes us to the Song of Solomon.
