Why is persecution promised?

Guest (Male): This is Viewpoint with attorney and author Chuck Crismier. Viewpoint is a one-hour talk show confronting the issues of America's heart and home. And now, with today's edition of Viewpoint, here is Chuck Crismier.

Chuck Crismier: It continues to happen all over the world. Yes, all over the world, whether it's crucifixion in Arizona, whether it's crucifixion in Egypt, or whether it's persecution by the former Biden administration in America, persecution is still hot on the burner here in America and around the world. Dr. Robert Jeffress, the senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas, said, "I am convinced we are in that season known as the last days of the end times. One of the most serious issues confronting the church is the warning by both Jesus and His apostles of mounting persecution."

"This epistle by Charles Crismier desperately needs to be read and received so that Christians, parents, grandparents, and leaders can be prepared from the heart," referring also to my book *When Persecution Comes: Preparing Hearts for Perilous Times*. I hope your heart is prepared, friends, but the chances are it may not be. And the reason for that is that in this country, we just do not know how to relate to the issue of persecution. We just don't know how to relate to it.

Many deny that it actually is happening, but the reality is that it is happening, and we need to be prepared. But what does that mean? People will say, "Well, I'm prepared because I'm a believer." Okay. Why are all the warnings from Jesus, the apostles, and so on to Christian believers concerning persecution if they're all prepared? The problem is they're not prepared, and that's why Jesus said, "Get prepared." And so today on Viewpoint, we're going to do that again, and I'm glad that you've joined us. It's conversation with ever-increasing conviction, talk that transforms.

Persecution comes in many different forms. It's just amazing how many different forms it comes in and in the most surprising ways, it seems. For instance, how about the burning down of churches? What would you call that? Churches all over Europe are being burned down. Mosques are not being burned down, but churches are. Would you call that persecution? Persecution from what source? Islamic persecution of Christians? When mosques are not being burned down but the churches are, what would you say that is?

You see, persecution comes in many different forms. One of the problems that we're reasons we're not prepared as professing Christians is that the nature of discipleship in this country has been extremely weak, so weak that it has not focused on the things that Jesus focused on. In fact, if you go to the parables of Jesus, most of them, at least half of them, are all designed intentionally to prepare professing believers for the times that we're now facing in and are increasingly coming upon us as we await the soon return of our Lord.

That's amazing, isn't it? Why would Jesus do that? Why would He warn believers of the times that were coming? Why would Paul warn the believers? Why would Peter, especially Peter, warn believers of the times that were coming and say, "You know what, don't be surprised at the fiery trial that's going to come upon you, for actually this is to be expected," he said. Don't be surprised. But we will be surprised. In this country, the majority of professing Christians will be surprised when it comes very close to home.

Like the home of the pastor, a 76-year-old pastor in Arizona who was crucified in his bed. That's right, crucified in his bed. And we're going to talk about a number of these instances here on Viewpoint today, and I'm glad that you've joined us. Again, as always, it's conversation with ever-increasing conviction, I hope, talk that transforms. We're not here to have idle conversation. We're not here to just merely preach the word of God. You can hear the word of God preached in many different venues all over the internet.

But as one listener to this program said today in ordering one of the books that we had done an interview concerning, she said, "I've been listening to Viewpoint now for eight years almost every day. The reason I listen to Viewpoint is because it's not just plain old teaching of the word, but it's applying it in the context of real life and what's happening in our world." So it's not isolated. It's not sterile. It actually comes alive.

And so today on Viewpoint, I'm glad that there are those of you who believe that, want to thank you all, those who have been supporting and encouraging us with your emails and your letters, notes from time to time, and then also your gifts. You cannot imagine how important they really are, and I do mean that. It's not like millions of dollars pouring in to support this ministry like so many out there. No, it's not like that at all. Because when you actually apply the word of God precisely to where we live and the issues of our time, all of a sudden the rubber meets the road.

All of a sudden, the word of God becomes transitive. That means active, and indeed it becomes like a sword that pierces even through the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, discerns even the thoughts and the intents of the heart, and then all of a sudden, people lose interest. They would rather have a sterile teaching rather than an applicational, relational, truly relevant presentation of the word of God. And that's what we seek to do here on this program.

As of this week, we are wrapping up our 31st year on the air and on Thursday, we will begin our 32nd year on the air. Thursday, the National Day of Prayer, we'll be beginning our 32nd year on the air. It's called a long obedience in the same direction. That's what faith is, a long obedience in the same direction. And for those of you who don't realize it, yours truly has never received a dime for any of what we have done over the past 32 years. Nothing. No remuneration, no dipping into donations. No, there is nothing to dip into because everything that comes in is used exclusively to keep the message flowing out, the expenses that actually occur or are incurred in order to get the message out. The same is true today. So when, by the way, when you order one of the books that we offer, there isn't one dime of that goes into my pocket, even my own books. That may sound surprising to you, but it's true and has always been true. These books are written like an epistle to the body of Christ just like the ancient apostles did. They're letters to the body of Christ, lengthy letters, *When Persecution Comes: Preparing Hearts for Perilous Times* to prepare God's people.

So we want to thank you for those of you who have so generously given over the years. We urge some of you who have been listening now for a long period of time or even a short period of time to begin to pick up the mantle and enable us to continue on and to increase the magnification of the message through more stations. We'll be right back.

Guest (Male): Once upon a time, children could pray and read their Bibles in school. Divorces were practically unknown, as was child abuse. In our once-great America, virginity and chastity were popular virtues and homosexuality was an abomination. So what happened in just one generation? Hi, I'm Chuck Crismier, and I urge you to join me daily on Viewpoint where we discuss the most challenging issues touching our hearts and homes. Could America's moral slide relate to the fourth commandment? Listen to Viewpoint on this radio station or anytime at saveus.org.

Persecution was promised. That's right. Jesus the Messiah, Lord of His Church, made it clear for all of His followers, "If the world hates you, you know that it hated me before it hated you." So Yeshua wanted His disciples, the 12, and all who would follow in their footsteps to be consciously aware of the cost of discipleship, of which cost He had continuously reminded them. In fact, He said He called them to remember, "Remember the word that I said to you," He said. "The servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will persecute you, and if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also."

So why does persecution come? It's promised to all genuine followers of Jesus, Yeshua the Savior. Why? Because of His name. They're not persecuting you because of God. The world believes in God, of whatever definition they give to the name God. If you're part of the Masons, it doesn't matter. You use the word God and God will be used in whatever country you're in to use the designation, the application that they have for the name God. It doesn't necessarily imply Jesus. It's God. So that's how Masonic, the Masonic movement brings unity because it's about God, but not about Jesus.

That may come as a surprise to you, but if you want to find out more about that, you might get a copy of my book *Messiah: Unveiling the Mystery of the Ages*. You'll find out that the Masonic Messiah is different than your Messiah. So persecution is a promise to all followers of Jesus. Jesus declared, "But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not Him that sent me." So there's something about that name. We used to sing a song, "There's Something About That Name." "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, there's something about that name."

I believe it was Bill and Gloria Gaither that gave us that song chorus back in the 1970s. Something about that name. Names are important. God actually decreed certain names because of their importance and their prophetic significance. For instance, He changed the name Abram to Abraham to declare forever Abraham's fatherhood of many nations, beginning with Israel. Then He changed Abraham's wife's name from Sarai to Sarah, meaning mother of many nations. Now of Abraham's seed, there was to come a blessing upon the Gentiles, that is the entire world, through Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach, that you and I might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Faith in what? Faith in Jesus.

Writing of the antipathy between Hagar, who birthed Ishmael, and Sarah, who birthed Isaac, who was the son of promise, the apostle Paul stated, "But as then he that was born after the flesh, Ishmael, persecuted him that was born after the spirit, that is Isaac, even so it is now." Persecution, yes, even Islamic persecution of Christians was promised by Paul. That which was born of the flesh, Ishmael, persecuted him that was born of the spirit, Isaac, even so it is now. Persecution is, shall we say, endemic to the very walk of faith through the name of Jesus, Yeshua, whose very name, that is Yeshua, was commanded by God the Father because it means He shall save His people from their sins.

God the Father is not the Savior. Jesus is the Savior. You say, "But isn't Jesus God?" Yes, Jesus was sent by the Father to be the redeemer of the world. And He also will be the one who will judge the world in righteousness. Jesus is the issue. His name also was declared Emmanuel, remember, by the Father to represent the Father's ongoing presence among the people as God with us. Jesus was God with us, Emmanuel. And so the name Jesus is the name above every name. Persecution comes then because of the name God the Father ascribed to His Son as the Word made flesh. Because from the beginning, the Word was with God and the Word was God.

Now, it may be hard for us to understand, but that's what the scripture says. Now, the Jewish people take the name of God seriously. They call His self-revealed name Jehovah, the ineffable or unspeakable name, as being holy beyond the lips of humankind. That's why they commonly spell it Yahweh, known as the tetragrammaton, the unspeakable. When Moses was drafted by God to deliver the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob from Egypt, he asked God to reveal His name, remember that? To which God replied, "I am that I am." So He told Moses to declare to Israel, "I am has sent me to you. Jehovah, God of your fathers, this is my name forever."

Well, Yeshua is the only begotten Son of God, declared that He was Jehovah in the flesh because He identified Himself with the Father in authority. That's the reason, friends, the Jews persecuted Jesus. That's the number one reason they persecuted Him and why they crucified Him and sought even the more to kill Him. Now, Jesus had declared, "I and my Father are one," so the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. Why is this historical and spiritual understanding necessary to comprehend Jesus' words, "If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you"? It's because of the spiritual and prophetic import of His name.

The apostle Paul made that clear, the implication of the name Yeshua, clearly in His writing to the Philippian church when He said Jesus was Messiah because He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore, because of that, God highly exalted Him and gave Him a name which is above every name. That at the name of Jesus or Yeshua, every knee should bow, that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ, Yeshua the Messiah, is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. But the Jews could not and do not receive the name above every name. They deem it blasphemy, claiming it is belief in more than one God, which they say is defiance of the Torah.

So they look for a man like Moses as the Messiah, not a divine Messiah. And for this reason, they crucified the Lord of glory, the King of the Jews, calling His blood upon their own heads. Now, the Muslims also believe in Jesus as a teacher just like the Jewish people do, but they do not believe in Him as the ultimate Messiah. They call Him Isa. They believe, Muslims believe that to claim that Jesus was crucified and rose again is total blasphemy worthy of death. In other words, in the name of Allah, anyone who would claim that Jesus is the Messiah was crucified, rose again for the salvation of humankind, and will judge the world in righteousness is worthy of a death sentence.

Maybe you didn't realize that. Let that sink in. You can then understand why fundamentalist Islam must go after Christians. I say must go after Christians. How would they do that? Well, Muslim Islam under Muhammad said search for them behind every tree, whatever you have to do, find them. Find the Jews and find the Christians wherever you find them and eliminate them from the earth. He didn't use the word eliminate, he said, you know, slice their heads off. So it's pretty simple. So that may explain then why this article came out today, "Old Europe is Burning."

"Old Europe is Burning." Giulio Meotti has written a piece that was printed in Israel National News talking about the churches in Europe that are burning. The Church of Montenach, France, built between 1884 and 1886, survived two wars and was devastated by a fire just Sunday. The numbers, cold as gravestones, speak clearly. Dozens of churches are destroyed by fire every year now in Europe, while places of worship enjoy an inexplicable immunity. These are not meteorological accidents of random electrical faults. It's a pattern that challenges our ability to name reality without euphemism, he writes. The elites in Paris and Brussels barricade themselves in intellectual salons, prefer not to see the reality of what's taking place. But the citizen smells the acrid odor of a planned dissolution.

What is he talking about here? He's talking about what's happening throughout Europe in terms of the burning of churches. For instance, in 2023, 27 churches were burned. In 2024, 26 church fires occurred. The data for 2025 is going to be published either this month or next month. Churches and synagogues are burning, but mosques are not. In Quebec, which is also an extension of France, three churches were burned in three weeks. What's going on? Why all this burning of churches? Is this a form of public, shall we say, execution of Christians in the form of a symbolism, burn down their churches instead of just getting rid of the people? Or is it a reflection that the people themselves have basically self-sacrificed and are burning themselves down by, shall we say, persecuting inwardly the very one for whom they were named?

What did they call Europe? Christian Europe. Hmm. Fascinating. And then we have in this country viewpoint-based discrimination. The Department of Justice now has issued a 500-plus page report showing that the Biden administration, a man claiming to be a Catholic, used the Internal Revenue Service to intentionally act as a machine to attack Christian groups, according to the new Department of Justice report. In other words, open persecution by a president's administration in this country against Bible-believing Christians and those who are attempting to minister in Jesus' name.

Why? Apparently because they don't like it. They don't like real Christianity. A 500-page report proving that the previous administration for four years did went out of its way to, shall we say, legally crucify American Christian organizations. What do you make of that? I'm not making these things up. Not making them up at all. Whether you want to call it viewpoint discrimination, it's discrimination against Christians who have a viewpoint that Jesus is the Savior of the world. They weren't against God, they were against Jesus, the only name by whom we must be saved. As Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one will come to the Father but by me." And that is unacceptable in today's so-called world dedicated to diversity. Everything is acceptable except Jesus. The exclusivity of Jesus.

Saveus.org and many more resources to strengthen your marriage. It's all on Chuck's website saveus.org. Again, you can listen to Chuck's Viewpoint broadcast live and archived, Save America Ministries' website at saveus.org.

Again, the book *When Persecution Comes: Preparing Hearts for Perilous Times*. The $24 book is yours for $20 on the website saveus.org. You can give us a call at 1-800-SAVE-USA, 1-800-SAVE-USA, or write to us at Save America Ministries, P.O. Box 70879, Richmond, Virginia 23255, adding a check at $6 for postage and handling. Again, this is an absolutely perfect book to be used in your small groups, whether men or women, in joint small groups together in your churches, also with regard to your family.

Every chapter is followed by questions that are rather probative, actually, and will generate a lot of questions, a lot of interaction among you so that you don't have to have a theological degree or anything to be able to facilitate, men, this kind of conversation in your home. This is a perfect tool for doing that and while you're doing it, it will prepare your children, grandchildren, and also you to be better equipped to stand in this evil day.

All right. So now let us move forward and take a look at some of the things that are taking place here. You may have heard about the man in Arizona who crucified a 76-year-old pastor. And then he put a crown of thorns on the dead man's head. That's what he did, Adam Christopher Schief. And then he pleaded for a death penalty. He didn't deny what he had done. He was proud of it. Now, why was he proud of it? I'm looking at a picture of the man. He had a tattoo, a big tattoo on the front of his neck.

You know what it was? The Hebrew word for God. The Hebrew word for God, not Jesus, God. He said, "From day one, I've said the same thing. Here's the reason why I did this, and I'm not contesting anything," he told the judge. So why did he do it? Well, let's find out why he did it. Now, the pastor, Mr. Schoneman, or Pastor Schoneman, was the beloved leader of the New River Bible Chapel for 25 years. He was found dead with his arms spread out in his bed, and his hands were pinned to a wall like in a crucifixion.

The man who did this claimed that his victim and other Christian pastors were leading followers onto a false path and dubbed his greater scheme "Operation First Commandment." Now, I want you to think about this. What did he mean by Operation First Commandment? The first commandment is "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." Oh. So this man, having the word God tattooed on his neck, said was saying that Jesus was another god and was violating the first commandment.

Therefore, he was doing the will of God by engaging in a campaign not to kill one pastor, but to kill 13. It means that God, as he understood God, Yahweh, wanted to know that he, Mr. Schief, had his allegiance in God. You see the problem? The problem is he wasn't against God, as he saw it, he was against Jesus. The same reason why the Sanhedrin, the Jewish elders of Israel, called for the crucifixion of Jesus.

So this man in America, an American, not a Muslim, claimed that these pastors representing salvation by faith alone in Christ alone were deceivers and deserved the death penalty, which he was going to administer in the name of Yahweh, God, whose name he had tattooed on his neck. I'm looking at it right now. Now, this man is proud. He doesn't deny. He says, "I did the work of God." So can you purport to do the work of God and still be a persecutor of the Savior of the world? Yes. That's what the elders of Israel did. They said His blood be upon us and on our children.

Now, anybody that says that Jewish leaders did not crucify Jesus is lying through their teeth. They're playing word games. They are the ones that called. In fact, they suborned perjury. They did everything they could to amplify the emotions of the crowd to cry for Jesus' crucifixion. They, from God's viewpoint, crucified Jesus. But they're not the only ones that crucified Jesus. They employed the Romans, the secular Romans, the government that had the authority to actually implement the crucifixion. They employed them to do the dirty work. So they're both guilty as sin before God. Jew and Gentile crucified Jesus. It is not right. It is not just and it's not honest to say that the Jewish people did not crucify Jesus, or at least the elders, the Jews as the elders were referred to, not all the Jewish people, but the elders. They did.

And in one sense, they do it again until such time as they look upon Him whom they have pierced in their greatest moment of ultimate anxiety and threat, when there seems no more hope for Eretz Israel, the land of Israel and the people, when Yeshua, Jesus, shows up as stated in the book of Zechariah, chapter 12. And He enters on their behalf to save them ultimately again, so to speak. And they look upon Him whom they have pierced and weep for Him as for their only son and finally realize how they actually crucified, persecuted their Messiah, the one they had anticipated for all those centuries, that the prophets had foretold.

But it's not just Jewish people. It's not just unrepentant Jews who embrace only Yahweh the Father. It's Gentiles all over the world. It was Joe Biden and his administration that used the Internal Revenue Service as a machine to attack Christian groups. That's why the Department of Justice now came out with a 500-page report. 566-page report from the Department of Justice's task force to eradicate anti-Christian bias. Anti-Christian bias is just a nice euphemism to say they were persecuting Christians.

So speaking of the issue of crucifixion, in Egypt, where our Lord went when He was very young, He was taken by His father and His mother to Egypt to be safe from the hand of Herod who had sought to kill all the boy babies in Bethlehem two years of age and under. God through His angel told Joseph to take the Son into Egypt until Herod was dead, which he did. Egypt, by the way, was one of the great centers of the Christian faith, the early Christian church. But now, a Christian man imprisoned, hung in crucifixion for converting to Christianity in Egypt.

The trial of an Egyptian Christian man imprisoned on charges relating to his conversion from Islam and his attempt to change his religious designation on identity papers opened last week in Cairo. The man was arrested in July under terrorism-related charges. Apostasy is not illegal in Egypt, but changing the religious designation on official identity documents is practically impossible and leaves converts open to persecution and prosecution as a national security threat. So prosecutors brought multiple charges against the man, including establishing a leading a group in violation of the law, joining a group that was allegedly founded unlawfully, that is Christianity, financing the group, promoting ideas and beliefs deemed harmful to national unity and social peace, and showing contempt for Islam and challenging its fundamental principles. These are all word games that were used to create an environment in which to maximize the penalty for this man who had converted from Islam to Christianity. He was held in Cairo's 10th of Ramadan prison, where he was reportedly deprived of basic necessities, including adequate food, clothing, and medical care, and then was hung in a crucifixion position. Egypt.

And that's not all. We'll be back after this, friends. Persecution is alive and well all over the world, including the United States of America. Are you ready? Are you prepared? We'll be back.

Guest (Male): Have you ever considered what the early church was like? Many people are developing a hard longing for a greater fulfillment in our practices as Christians. A recent study showed 53,000 people a week are leaving the back door of America's churches in frustration. What is going on? Why has there not been even a 1% gain among followers of Christ in the last 25 years? Could it be that God is seeking to restore first-century Christianity for the 21st century? Jesus said, "I'll build my church." Is Christ by His spirit stirring to prepare the church for the 21st century? The early church prayed together and broke bread from house to house. They were family, and it was said by all who observed, "Behold how they love one another." Incredible. But the same can be found right now. Go to saveus.org and click Cell Church. We can revive first-century Christianity for the 21st century. It's about people, not programs. It's about a body, not a building. That's saveus.org. Click Cell Church.

Back to Egypt, my friends. Back to Egypt. Before we get back to Egypt, remember, get a copy of the book *When Persecution Comes: How to Prepare Our Hearts for Perilous Times*. This is a book that will encourage you, help you to see what must be done, how to identify what this looks like, and not only that, but how to prepare our own minds and hearts. You may think you know already, but the majority of professing Christians, particularly in the West, are absolutely unprepared. Unprepared.

And our young people are unprepared. It may be said that many of them are flooding back to churches, but they're not being discipled. They know nothing, virtually nothing about the Christian faith. They're just looking for something to make them feel more spiritual right now. They're not prepared. Your kids are not prepared just because they made a confession of faith at some point doesn't mean they're prepared. And the warnings by Jesus, Peter, John, James, and Paul are to Christians because they knew that under conditions of persecution, the majority of professing Christians would apostatize or abandon the faith. They would fall away. They knew that. They said so.

Now, that may be contrary to your embraced theology, but your embraced theology is wrong because it refuses to admit all of the warnings of scripture. It's a people-pleasing theology that does not conform to the Bible, only in those passages you want to look at. But as to the whole of the Bible, absolutely not. We need to get prepared. We need to take this seriously. The $24 book yours for $20 on the website saveus.org. And I don't think you're going to be disappointed. As you read it, you're going to be strongly encouraged. My wife in reading it, she has a very different outlook than I do, and she says, "Chuck, this book should not strike fear into people. It should actually build their faith." She's absolutely right. It's on the website, *When Persecution Comes*, get your copy. Call us 1-800-SAVE-USA, go to the website saveus.org, or write to us at Save America Ministries, P.O. Box 70879, Richmond, Virginia 23255.

So how about going back to Egypt again? A 37-year-old Coptic Christian researcher and YouTuber has filed an appeal to overturn his conviction for posting online videos about Christianity. He was sentenced to five years imprisonment with hard labor. In other words, Egypt accused him of being a terrorist. He was arrested in the early hours by masked special forces officers who seized his laptop, phone, books, and personal papers. He runs a YouTube channel with more than 100,000 subscribers. His videos are largely academic, addressing common questions about Christianity and exploring theological and philosophical differences between Christianity and Islam. He was initially charged with terrorism-related offenses before the prosecutors amended the case to "contempt of religion", which would carry Egypt's primary blasphemy provision.

The trial was conducted without notice to his family or legal counsel. His detention included torture and then ultimately consignment for five years hard labor. In another, a Christian father of five was imprisoned on blasphemy charges for sharing his beliefs in a private Christian Facebook group. The Egyptian government is increasingly monitoring Christians and other religious minorities online, being imprisoned simply for expressing their beliefs through social media. Christians make up about 10 to 15% of Egypt's population. The constitution guarantees freedom of religion. But because of the blasphemy prosecutions, it doesn't mean much. Freedom of religion. You're free to believe but not to say anything about it.

Okay. Now we go to India. India is the most populous country in the world now. It has superseded China as the most populous country. The president of India, Mr. Modi, has declared India to be a Hindu nation. So much for those who in America are afraid to have anybody refer to America as having Christian roots or having been fundamentally a Christian nation. But India has no problem saying that. And that's why we can cater to Hinduism, Buddhism, Mohammedan Islam, that is Islam, and just about every other ism of the world in America as if somehow this is cool, but denying our very heritage.

But in India, they're doing just the opposite, not denying their heritage. A leader of a prominent Hindu nationalist paramilitary organization in India has been flagged by international religious freedom watchdogs but denied claims that his group is anti-Christian this week. He served as the general secretary of the RSS since 2021 and said that the characterization of his organization RSS is one of many American misconceptions about India. So why is it then that the RSS and everywhere they're located in India are at the heart of the persecution of Christians in India? This RSS is a revolutionary Hindu nationalist organization. It is in, you might call them the enforcers of Modi's declaration that India is a Hindu nation, a Hindu culture and will be a totally Hindu nation.

So where is the freedom of religion? Where is the possibility of having genuine freedom of religion? So we're playing games with India because it's a big population, a big market, you see. But RSS has been said to be the Indian version of the Ku Klux Klan. But then again, others are saying, no, RSS is contrary to the very spirit of Hinduism, that Hindu philosophy and culture doesn't tolerate supremacism. Well, if that be true, then why did Mr. Modi declare India to be a completely Hindu nation?

You see the situation is such, friends, that the spirit around the world is very much in favor of persecution. Persecution against Christians in India has steadily risen ever since Modi assumed power at the federal level in 2014, with 2025 marking the most violence against Christians since Indian independence in 1947. The latest annual report from the Evangelical Fellowship of India's Religious Liberty Commission documented nearly 750 incidents against Christians last year, including public beatings, church vandalism, service disruption, threats against worshipers or other forms of abuse, including, I'm going to add, burning of churches. India ranked 12th globally on Open Doors' World Watch List this year, with the Christian persecution watchdog noting that much of the persecution against roughly 72 million Christians in India comes from Hindu nationalists, the RSS.

Formerly Hindu believers bear the brunt of persecution, just like formerly Islamic folk bear the brunt of persecution when they convert to Christianity. In 2016, the RSS stood accused of religious minorities of attempting to make India an exclusively Hindu nation, which is exactly what Modi had declared publicly. So what we're seeing here is that all over the world, we're just giving illustrations now. We have illustrations in Egypt, a formerly Christian stronghold in the first three centuries of the Christian church. And now, apparently, God is still calling people out of Egypt. Maybe you weren't aware that the words "out of Egypt" are one of the most common phrases in all of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Over 400 times from Genesis to Revelation, God calls His people out of Egypt. Why would that be?

It's not because of the geographical location called Egypt. It's because of the spirit of Egypt. What was the spirit of Egypt in the experience of Israel, the Hebrew people coming out of Egypt? It was imprisonment. It was bondage. It was trusting Pharaoh rather than God. So the spirit of Egypt is who is the Lord that I should obey his voice? That's the spirit of Egypt. The spirit of Egypt is trusting the butcher, the baker, the candlestick baker, the systems of this world against God Himself. That's why God says you must come out of Egypt. Abraham, the father of the faith, had to come out of Egypt before Israel ever went in. Did you know that? After Israel was in Egypt for 400 years, a Pharaoh arose who knew not Joseph and everything changed. The trust of God shifted to the trust in Pharaoh, who was a type of the Antichrist.

So God, after 400 years, raises up Moses, who was raised in Egypt, took him out of Egypt for 40 years in the wilderness to train him, to prepare him to go in and redeem his son, Israel. So after 40 years, Moses goes in and takes Israel out of Egypt with a mighty hand across the Red Sea, and they're in the wilderness for 40 years because God could not get the spirit of Egypt out of them. He got them out of Egypt, but He couldn't get the spirit of Egypt out of them. And they didn't get to the promised land. That is one of the major messages of the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation. You might want to if you don't have my book *Out of Egypt*, you might want to get it. *Out of Egypt*. It'll open your eyes to the breadth of scripture that you cannot even understand until you understand the words "out of Egypt" and how that applies. Almost every major theological basis of the scripture is rooted in those words. Out of Egypt.
