The Roots of Rage, Part 3 of 4 (Why Good People Do Bad Things)

June 19, 2013

Some people think you can get rid of anger by hitting something inanimate and “letting off steam.” The trouble, however, is that this doesn’t work. We need to turn to the Bible to not only pinpoint the source of rage but also to help us handle it.

Rage can be hidden below a person’s calm exterior. It can burst forth at any time. Join us as we uncover the unpleasant truth about the roots of rage that lie within each of our hearts.

Everyone has been mad or angry at some point in their lives. Though it’s okay to be angry, the Bible warns us not to sin when we’re angered. When anger turns into rage—that’s when the line has been crossed. In today’s message we’ll look at the source of this destructive emotion.

We all know about the curse of shame: the guilt, the heavy emotional load. But what about the cure? In today’s message, you’ll hear powerful teaching on how to get rid of shame for good and live in the freedom of having a clear conscience.
June 14, 2013
If shame isn’t dealt with, it can lead to paranoia and excessive perfectionism, or it can leave a person as nothing but a doormat for others. But God has a cure for shame. Hebrews 12:2 tells us that Jesus “endured the cross, scorning its shame…” or, put another way, “try to destroy Me if you can!”
June 13, 2013
Shame was not part of the original creation. It was only after Adam and Eve took that bite that shame fell upon mankind. And now it’s such a painful emotion, people will do anything to avoid it. But God does have a cure for it!
June 12, 2013
Shame is the feeling that we’ve radically disappointed ourselves, our friends and God. In today’s message we’re going to explore its origins, then discover God’s answer to the curse of shame.
June 11, 2013
The mind is powerful. It can be our enemy if we use it to justify the desires of the heart. When we do this, guilt is repressed, and excuses are made and believed. Then we begin to deceive others and eventually ourselves, and if we could, we’d deceive God.
June 10, 2013
Self-deception is taking what God has said and redefining it so that we can live out the sinful desires of our hearts. In today’s message hear Pastor Lutzer on facing the reality of our condition.
June 7, 2013
We’re far from being the inherently good people that our culture says we are. In fact, apart from certain restraints, we’re capable of unspeakable evil. In today’s message, we continue on our journey of self-discovery.
June 6, 2013
In order to keep from falling into denial and even deception, we need to use the Word of God as our mirror. That’s where we should go to find out who we are. Unlike a fun house mirror that distorts reality, the Word of God is unbent and will help us find a sense of identity.
