Jesus, Betrayed For Us, Part 3 of 3 (For Us)

March 16, 2018

The betrayal of Jesus is perhaps the greatest crime ever committed. Even the betrayer was filled with remorse for what he had done. In this message we look at the dark heart of Judas, a man who was close to Jesus, but so very far away.

Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. Some say God’s will for us is prosperity and happiness. For Jesus, God’s will meant unimaginable suffering, both in Gethsemane and on the cross of shame. In this message we learn why we must also do the will of God, no matter what.

When life is a pressure cooker for years on end, it’s easy to believe that God simply does not care. But we must remind ourselves of the promise of God that He will never leave us nor forsake us. When we’re in a tight place, it’s the promises of God that can get us through the darkness.

Israel faced great trials under the heel of the Pharaoh of Egypt. The people were brutally oppressed as slaves. The lessons they learned might help us face the stress of a modern era. In this message we learn about “Finding God in a Tight Place.”

If life were always easy, we’d never learn the lessons that come through trials. The desert gave Moses that opportunity. Many of us might be in the desert, learning lessons for a future day when we’ll understand their value.
