Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. When things are going well, many of us feel no real need for God. But when troubles come, and our prayers are difficult, we come face to face with God. He wants us to find our refuge in Him, not in those around us.

In our day, many churches have praise bands. The music is often high-energy, and some Christians feel that worship has morphed into entertainment. In light of this, how should we view our church services and the music in them?

A thirsty woman once came to Jacob’s well. There she met a man who told her she had a deeper thirst than her need for water.  In John 4 Jesus teaches a Samaritan woman, and us, about how we can have living water.

The Bible tells us to love God with all our hearts, souls, and minds. In John 4 we meet a woman with a difficult past, a woman who finds a very positive future through Jesus. It’s all wrapped up in becoming a worshipper.

When we hear the words of Jesus on our motivations, we realize that we must let in the light to scatter the darkness from our lives. Our hearts and our actions will be changed forever as we receive Jesus’ words in Matthew 6.
