August 9, 2021

When You’ve Been Wronged
Conflict in relationships is inevitable, but healing and reconciliation often is not. Time and again we've tried every option and failed, and all we are left with is a load of guilt and pain. Pastor Erwin Lutzer shows how the blessing the Lord gives to those who suffer unjustly is worth the pain involved. He also illustrates the need to leave our broken relationships in the hands of God and move forward in our lives toward freedom. We’d like to think that our heroes have no flaws. But the Bible paints an honest picture, and Moses failed at the finish line. He tripped just yards from the end of his race. In this message we learn what happened and why God was so seemingly hard on the man He knew face to face.

When Jacob wrestled with an angel, he said “I will not let you go until you bless me.” Years later, Moses said the same thing. Near the end of his race of life, Moses asked God, “Show me your glory.” He wouldn’t let go of the God who never let go of him.

As runners in life’s race, we press toward a goal, a finish line, and a prize not made of gold or silver. Believers race toward God Himself, who fulfills all our dreams and bestows on us every good gift. Moses knew this when he prayed, “O Lord, show me your glory.”

They might be enticing, but we’ll pay a high price for the idols we worship, whether those idols are old or new. The people of Israel felt God’s judgment for making a golden calf. We'll be judged as well, if we don’t renounce the idols we hold dear.

It’s amazing how fast people forget. Right after Israel felt Sinai quake and saw Moses ascend the mountain, they turned to idolatry. We might be tempted to shake our heads in disbelief at their wandering hearts. But sadly, we also turn back to our idols after spiritual mountain-top experiences. In this message we learn what happened after Sinai, and what can happen to us.

When God appeared in thunder at Mount Sinai to deliver the Ten Commandments, He left no doubt that He was absolutely holy. In our age of leniency toward sin, let’s not forget that God has not changed—not one iota. His character is the same yesterday, today, and forever. In this message we learn more of the story of a close encounter at Sinai.

The mountain called Sinai is forever linked with the great visitation of God to mankind, as the people of Israel were represented by Moses. On this mountain, the basic roadmap for living was given in the form of the Ten Commandments. In this message we recount the story of what happens “When God Comes.”

Douglas MacArthur once said, “There is no substitute for victory.” Moses knew that truth, as Israel faced its Amalekite enemies. And from that conflict of old come principles to assure victory in the battles of our everyday lives. In this message we find more lessons from the life of Moses on “Fighting to Win.”
