Christ the Servant, Part 1 of 3 (Christ Before Bethlehem)

December 11, 2017

Jesus will return one day as King of Kings. In His first coming, He was a servant to the will of God, giving His life to save His people from their sins. In this message we begin looking into three chapters of Isaiah, chapters that reveal what kind of servant Jesus was.

For believers on the racetrack of life, there is no guarantee of an easy path. A life of servanthood is what lies before us, a life like the one Jesus lived. Paul clearly connects servanthood and ministry. Are you ready to embrace the Disciplines That Grow Godliness?

Most sports take a significant physical toll on those who strive for victory. It’s only through some hard knocks that we learn to help others face their own difficulties. Paul encouraged believers to endure hardship, advice we all need to hear in this age of self-gratification.

Being a servant goes against our selfish grain. Everybody likes being served, as long as they don’t have to serve others. But in God’s eyes, it is the servants who win in the race of life. We need a paradigm shift. In this message we explore “The Discipline of Servanthood.”

Sometimes we find ourselves in spiritual warfare, and only through fasting can victories be won. We see this in the life of Jesus, as he abstained from food for 40 days. In this message, we learn why fasting can help open the door to a deep work of God in your life.
