When the State Becomes God Part 4

February 13, 2015

One Minute After You Die
Many people spend more time planning for a vacation than preparing for eternity. Perhaps it doesn't seem real that we will still exist—fully conscious and alive—beyond the grave. But it's true, and it calls for careful consideration. In this updated edition of One Minute After You Die, bestselling author Erwin Lutzer urges readers to study what the Bible says. Can near-death experiences teach us anything about life after death? How can we prepare for our own final moment? With 700,000 copies in print, this bestselling work makes an encouraging gift for believers and a tasteful word of caution for the undecided. When the government creates a law, and the Bible tells us to do the opposite, what do we do? The answers are not always clear, since we are called to obey those who rule over us. We can learn from four men handled who this in ancient Babylon.

Christians in America are rapidly becoming like Daniel and his friends in Babylon: out of sync with their pagan environment. How do we reconcile what we believe with what we have to do in order to live in such a culture?

God told His people in Babylonian captivity to have large families and support the country they lived in. Could this be a blueprint for how American believers should react to increasing persecution? Today: the takeaways from Jeremiah 29.

Should believers living under national judgment circle the wagons and live off the grid, or engage their flawed culture with enthusiasm? The surprising answer comes from God’s instructions to captive Judah living in Babylon.

In the midst of darkness, light is easy to see. Jeremiah’s eyes were full of tears as he prophesied the righteous judgment of God against a sinning, rebellious Jerusalem. Through his sorrow, he recalled a word of hope, a word Erwin Lutzer shares with you in this message.
