When God Speaks Part 1

January 2, 2023

Christianity claims to be a revealed religion. If God never revealed Himself, we wouldn’t know what happens after death, the difference between right and wrong, or where we came from. In this message from 2 Peter 1, we consider the reasons why God has spoken through His dependable, written Word. Can Christians trust this book with their life?

When You’ve Been Wronged
Conflict in relationships is inevitable, but healing and reconciliation often is not. Time and again we've tried every option and failed, and all we are left with is a load of guilt and pain. Pastor Erwin Lutzer shows how the blessing the Lord gives to those who suffer unjustly is worth the pain involved. He also illustrates the need to leave our broken relationships in the hands of God and move forward in our lives toward freedom. Freedom is not choosing our own morality or direction. What if we were made to live in true freedom? This message invites us to receive the truth and tear down our self-constructed walls. Only Jesus can deliver us from the worst kind of bondage—slavery to our selfish desires.

People in deep bondage are often under the illusion that they are free. When Jesus told the religious leaders that they needed deliverance, they couldn’t accept it. In this message, we find the spiritual power to live like children of God, not religious slaves. The truth is Jesus was born to set us free.

None of us would like to admit we’ve been enslaved. Yet we can be in spiritual bondage to our sin or even to our religiosity. In this message, we take a fact-finding trip about the truth that sets people free. Like the angel said to Mary: Jesus came to save His people from their sins.

“Greater love hath no man than a man lay down his life for his friends.” The love God bestows through His Son is a love we’re meant to share, even with those who are considered unlovable. In this message, we unwrap how love only works when others see it in action. That’s what Jesus said, and that’s what He did.

The love of God is a difficult teaching to believe. It seems to be so contrary to everything we know or experience in this fallen world. In this message, we view the love of God from three unique vantage points. Amid devastation and unanswered questions, God’s costly love is there.

Many of the pleasures we seek in this world are fleeting—they don’t last. Life can only be given by God, and one of the marks of life in God is joy. In this message, we celebrate the joy that comes from having fellowship with the Father and His Son, Jesus. Are joy and pleasure the same?

Many who attend church like the Christmas music or the story of Jesus and what He’s about. But do we really understand His purpose in coming to the Earth? In this message, we explore how life with God can start now for each of us personally. The life He offers to those who believe is an eternal one.

At Christmas, we would rather not think about our mortality or the end of our lives. But the eternal life Jesus brought for those who believe means that death is not the end but the beginning. In this message from 1 John, we see how eternal life transforms our inner motivations. Jesus becomes the start of the true life we are meant to have.

We live in a society obsessed with good health and a long life. But every person who has ever lived or is alive today has an eternal destiny. In this message, we explore three aspects of God’s eternal life, which He’s revealed in Jesus. Are we prepared to meet God on His terms?

The light of Christ in a believer’s heart shines through us every day. But God’s light is not always comfortable because He often exposes what we try to hide in the darkness. In this message, we take away two transforming lessons for daily fellowship with God. How can we be healed from our darkest secrets?
