The Christian life is a growth process, not a single event. Once we come to faith, we begin a lifelong journey toward being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. Over time, Jesus increasingly shines forth through those who have matured in their faith.

Each believer needs the Word of God on a daily basis, just like we need food and water. We need to develop an appetite for the Bible, but sin can curb that appetite. Let’s make the way clear for the Word of God to do its work.

Were it not for an act of God done in our lives, we would never be a new creation in Christ. Only God creates this new identity, because the Word of God, through the Spirit of God, causes us to experience new life.

Over a period of 1,600 years, God inspired about 40 authors to pen the Bible. This book is far more than a collection of writings. It’s the revealed word of God, and it has the power to transform our lives.

People in deep spiritual bondage are often under the illusion that they are free. Many of the religious leaders of Jesus’ day thought they were free, and they didn’t like being told that they needed deliverance. We can be delivered, for Jesus came to set us free.

Jesus said, “Everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. If the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed.” That’s great news. Freedom is more than not being in jail. Freedom is living without the shackles of sin.

The love God bestows through His Son is a love we’re meant to share, even with those who are considered unlovable. Love only works when it’s seen in action, as it was when Jesus gave His life for us long ago.

“Greater love hath no man, than a man lay down his life for his friends.” That’s what Jesus said, and that’s what He did. There is no greater love than the love of God through His Son, and that’s the greatest Christmas gift one could ever receive.
