In the drama of redemption, the Old Testament is a grand prologue. In the New Testament, the great transaction takes place. God’s sacrifice for the sins of the whole world was offered on a cross outside Jerusalem. No playwright could dream of a story so bold, so loving, and so wonderful.

The nation of Israel existed as a fulfillment of God’s promises. Israel was to bring forth a Messiah who would die as an offering for sin. After His sacrifice, He would be raised from the dead, and He will return one day as King over all the earth.
