The Christ Of The Bible Part 4

January 24, 2023

Do we go off our own opinion to find truth? Because Jesus repeatedly affirms the accuracy of the Old Testament, we must either believe Him, or reject what He says and the Bible He quotes. In this message, we’re invited to grow in our confidence of the Scriptures. We need somebody who has the qualifications to speak on behalf of God.

Living With Your Passions
In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. Many who doubt the Scriptures need to deal with the Christ who had no doubts about them. Christ was willing to lay His reputation on the line for the accuracy of the Scriptures. In this message, we explore what Jesus said about the Scriptures which cannot be broken. Would Jesus knowingly tell a lie?

Although modern scholars try to discredit Jesus, few say He had ill intent. Many look to Him as a good moral teacher, so His opinion of the Bible should at least be worth considering. In this message, we find three examples of Jesus’ belief in historicity and ethical claims of the Old Testament. If Jesus held up the Scriptures as truth, we are faced with a choice.

Skeptics, like those of the Jesus Seminar, say Jesus only spoke 18 percent of what the Bible claims He did. They question His miracles and His divinity. In this message, we address the validity of Jesus’ authority. Will we read the Scriptures with our minds already made up about who He is or will we discover what it really says?

Most so-called prophets bathe their predictions in mystery and allegory. Few name specifics or details like the Bible does. In this message, we face the implications of fulfilled prophesy. If we’re sitting on the fence, intellectually, morally, and spiritually, we have a choice before us.

In clear language, the Bible predicts what will happen hundreds of years before events take place. Fulfilled prophecy is a powerful reason to trust the Bible. In this message from Ezekiel 26 on the destiny of an ancient city, we explore how predicted events came to be fact. Will we believe if we’re convinced otherwise?

Many question whether the Bible’s prophesies are precise. Throughout Scripture, God contrasts His knowledge with false teachers and spiritists. In this message from Isaiah 44, we find comfort through an explicit prophesy where the Lord names a king over 150 years before his birth. More fulfillments are yet to come.

Many have claimed to make prophesies, such as Nostradamus or the Bible Code’s “hidden revelation.” But these crumble in comparison to the overt prophesies of Scripture. In this message, we delve into what makes a prophesy trustworthy. Can we know we’re not just twisting the Bible to say what we want?

How important is it that we know the Scriptures are a reliable book? The Bible makes claims about both history and spiritual truth. In this message, we explore why we can trust God’s Word and the gospel we proclaim. Ultimately, faith in God is a work of the Spirit, not empirical evidence.

Time and again, archeology has shown the biblical narrative to be correct. From creation to the flood, the Bible is accurate in its geography and history. In this message, we look at two instances from the Old and New Testaments where archeology has helped us confirm the Scriptures. What role does archeology really play in confirming the Bible’s reliability?

Since the Bible is under perennial attack for its accuracy, just how reliable is it? The history of the Bible is interwoven with what it says about God, authority, and miracles. In this message, we expose three false presuppositions by skeptics of the Bible. For those who are closed to belief, there will never be enough evidence.
