One of Satan’s favorite tactics is to whisper to Christians, “See, you sinned! You’re not worthy to get into heaven!” The truth Satan hides when he does this is that believers don’t stand on their own records. They stand on the merits of Jesus. This allows us to deal with the guilt that often paralyzes us. Knowing our place in Christ means we can tell Satan to get lost.

Just because something is invisible doesn’t mean it’s not there. The air we breathe is invisible, and it’s real. Angels are normally invisible as they do God’s work on behalf of the redeemed. But sometimes, God lets us see them, as when Elisha confronted an enemy king’s men. Scientists theorize that there are many dimensions of time and space, and that we on Earth are limited to just one of them. They say, we could see a parallel universe right next to our own if only we could adjust our “sensors” for them. It’s similar in the world of the spirit. In a dimension we can’t normally see is the army of God ready to serve at a moment’s notice.

Normally, angels are God’s invisible agents. They do their work unseen by those of us here on Earth, but on occasion they can be seen, as in the case of Elisha in the Old Testament. Here we get a glimpse of the mighty army of protection God has at His disposal when He chooses to defend even one of His children against harm.

The Greek word for “angel” means “messenger.” Angels took God’s messages to many throughout the Bible. Normally we can’t see angels, but they are there, doing the bidding of God by ministering to the people of God.
