In a hyper-sexualized culture, sex is either reduced to pleasure-seeking or conflated with our identity. But God designed us as sexual beings for emotional and spiritual intimacy whose highest calling is to worship Him. In this revised edition, Pastor Erwin Lutzer draws on forty years of ministry experience to present a rationale for sexual purity. He gives an honest answer to the sexual pressures we face like extramarital relationships, self-gratification, same-sex attraction, and more. As desire-driven creatures, we don't have to pursue happiness at the expense of character. With our identity grounded in Christ, we can live victoriously with our passions. The Apostle Paul said Jesus was “declared to be the Son of God in power... by his resurrection from the dead.” If we trust in Christ, the empty tomb in Jerusalem provides a promise that the tombs you and I shall occupy will one day be empty as well.

Death is everyone’s unavoidable fate, the legacy of the first sin committed by Adam and Eve. But believers cling to the promise of Jesus: “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.”

Our aspirations as believers must pass through God’s hands. Jesus faced untold agony in Gethsemane. He knew what awaited Him, and He prayed until blood drops hit the ground. Most importantly, He said to His Father, “Not my will, but Thine be done.”

Gethsemane lies on the Mount of Olives. Here, Jesus spent a night in agonized prayer before being nailed to a cross. His mission was to drink the cup of suffering for you and for me. But what does this mean? Let’s examine the significance of the suffering of Christ.
