Finality of the Cosmic Battle-b
Book of Revelation-Vol-3 - HVN112B - Heaven - Part 23
Dr. Roche Coleman: I want you to pause and I want you to grasp this. Get this in your spirit. Receive this. Receive it right now. Because there are times that we are walking in fear and we are worried. That's not of God. It is not of God. And if you walked in, and if you logged on, and if there is any fear, if there is any anxiety, if you're worried, let me tell you something: God did not give that to you.
In 2 Timothy, chapter 1, he says, "God did not give us a spirit of fear." Listen to me. I want you to say it with me. God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of love and sound mind. That's what God gave us. And if you're stressing and worried, you know that is not of God.
Guest (Male): Thank you for tuning in to the Infusion Broadcast with Roche Coleman Ministries. Dr. Coleman's been systematically taking us through the Book of Revelation in our current series on Heaven. He clearly explains the events which are yet to take place in the world.
Friend, if you don't have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, these events and the wrath of God against wickedness and evil can be terrifying. And you have a choice to make. Now if you've missed any part of this series, you can log on to rochecolemanministries.org to pick up on those that you've missed. Dr. Coleman takes us to chapter 12 in the Book of Revelation for part two of the message "Finality of the Cosmic Battle." Let's listen.
Dr. Roche Coleman: We want God to come bail us out, to drop us a lifeline, a life jacket, and it's not going to happen. God is not coming down from heaven and fix your credit. God is not coming down from heaven and get you balance and discipline in your life. He's not going to do it. He expects you to listen to his word, to watch others who are doing it and follow their example, and at some point to trust him by faith and do what he has told you.
You got to hear me, listen to me, listen. I'm serious. See, oftentimes we try to make this more complex. This is why a lot of people avoid the Book of Revelation. Because we've listened to the voices: "Oh, it's difficult. It's reverse." No, it's not. Outlined perfectly, great symbolism, rich, and it ensures you a blessing when you read it.
Here they are. They're being tested. Why is this so important? Because the tribulation period is the period of testing. Remember in Daniel chapter 9? Daniel chapter 9, verses 24 through 27, he says about the 70th week. Got to see this. He told them about this 70th week was going to happen. He said, "And you are going to experience this abomination of desolation." Our Lord mentions it in Matthew 24.
Why is all of this given? Because Daniel prophetically saw that this was going to happen to the people of Israel at a future date. And he was letting them know that the 70th week had been decreed to finish transgressions. Verse 24 says, "Make atonement for iniquity, bring in everlasting righteousness." Slide down to verse 27 in Daniel chapter 9.
He will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, and in the middle of the week he will put a stop to the sacrifice. Who's the "he"? We saw it manifest first in Antiochus Epiphanes IV, but it also is happening—he's referencing the Antichrist. This is where Antichrist goes into an agreement with the nation of Israel. He's promising peace. It's a false peace. He's going to give a period of tranquility and ease, but then in the middle of the 70th week—these are weeks of years—he's going to violate it at the midpoint.
How does he violate it? End sacrifice, forbid the Jews to exercise all of their practices in this period of time. And as a result, it's going to unleash all havoc in this tribulation period. And this is what John is giving us in Revelation chapter 12. He's giving us insights to what's going to happen in this tribulation period. It's so important that we see this. Why? Because he knew that it was going to be a wilderness, a time of testing for the people who go through it. And he's letting them know that God still will be with you even during this tribulation because, why? Israel, you are my covenant people. You are the elect.
It's important that we don't miss this. And that's why he's talking about this woman and all that's happening to her. She's in this wilderness. God prepares, he provides. She's nursed. And then he says for how long? 1,260 days. What is that? That is the first half of the tribulation period. The second half is the same length of time. The first half is going to be peaceful. The second half, greater distress, carnage is going to come forth.
Go down to verse 7, and we're going to see a transition here in the text because now we have the war that is in heaven with Michael and his angels against the dragon. Now we have this cosmic battle that's taking place. John shifts after he sees the woman flee. She's being nursed, provided for by God after the testing. And now we have this cosmic battle of righteousness against wickedness.
It's so intriguing that in the paramounts of heaven, an angel is fighting against the dragon, who is none other than Satan, the serpent. You see it here in the text, verse 9. He gives all the names of who he is: the Devil, also called Satan. They are engaging in this battle and they're fighting. And verse 8 let us know that they, being the dragon and his angels, were not strong enough and there was no place for them found in heaven. So what happened? They are kicked out of heaven.
Several things going on here that I want you to see. Michael's name is "who is like God?" He is the angel who is always characterized as the angel who fights. He is the one who stands guard and protects the nation of Israel. Go look in Daniel chapter 10. He is this prince who is there to fight on the behalf of God's people. But he defeats the dragon and extricate him from heaven.
It's important that you don't miss this because here's the thing: God does not get up off his holy throne. He dispatch an angel who's able to defeat the Devil, Satan, the serpent by himself with his angels. Why is this important and why is this beneficial to us as believers? Because if God has angels who can defeat Satan, why should we worry or why should we be concerned about an enemy who cannot touch or even come against the God who has redeemed us?
The dragon is thrown out of heaven. And when he's thrown out of heaven, there's going to be rejoicing. But there's something you got to see here. Look at how verse 9 describes who he is, who deceives the whole world. We have been drawn into the lie of Satan and we've embraced it. There are many of us we listen to the voice, the negative thoughts: the belief that we cannot achieve, we cannot accomplish; the negative thoughts that make us think that there is always something or someone out when God has already promised us all the blessings in Christ Jesus.
He's promised us his presence and his power and his provision. But the enemy is constantly there. And I'm so glad to see that the angels and Michael, they defeat him and kick him out of heaven. No longer to be able to do what? To be the accuser of the brethren, as this text tells us is what he does.
You see, you have to understand what Satan does. While he is able to sit in the heaven, he accuse you and I to God. "Look at them, I told you they weren't true. Look how they're not trusting you. Look, look, look, you see? They're not faithful to you, God. They lied. See? They told a lie. They're not faithful to you, God." Where do you get the imagery? Look in the Book of Job. What was Satan doing? He was accusing Job to God. He's the accuser of the brethren.
And what did he accuse Job of? "Oh, he only serves you because of what? Because God, you're good to him. He doesn't serve you because he loves you. He doesn't love you, God. Touch his family, touch his flocks, touch his finances. Watch him deny you, God." Job stayed firm. He said, "He's still not true to you, God." He accused Job to God. He says, "Touch his body and watch him, watch what he does." But Job remained faithful to the Lord.
You and I must understand our enemy Satan. Listen to me. Stay with me. He wants to accuse us. He wants to slander us. He's our adversary. But he is a defeated foe. He's defeated. And this is beautiful how he lets us know at this future date, Satan will be defeated and he's thrown with his angels to the earth.
Remember, Satan was perched in his original design as one of the celestial hosts in the throne of God. Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 28 gives us an account of him being kicked out of his original position. And Jesus Christ, in the Gospels, Jesus notes that he says, "I behold, I saw Satan falling like lightning." Jesus Christ noted the fall and the demise of Satan.
And I believe it is this defeat that Jesus Christ is referring to. Often many people apply it to Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 where they see Satan fall from his original abode or design. But I'm convinced it's probably here at the point of the tribulation where Satan has his fall and he is defeated. Because why? Because he's still there as the accuser of the brethren. And I believe the fall that our Lord sees, he's looking to, it is when he falls and now he's going to be on the earth and unleash havoc with the Antichrist and the false prophet, who we're going to be introduced to in Revelation chapter 13.
Here it is. The enemy is here and he's real. But our Lord is victorious even with his angels. Even with his angels. I want you to pause and I want you to grasp this.
God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind. That's what God gave us. And if you're stressing and worried, you know that is not of God. It's not of God.
And young people, I want you to hear me. Apply it to you. Know that your Lord loves you. No matter how dark, no matter how adverse the situation may be, no matter where you are, you remember that verse. You hide it in your heart. You write it down and you keep it up on your lips. And you recite it and you remind yourself: the Lord is not giving me a spirit of fear, but of love, power, and a sound mind.
And you keep saying it when you find yourself in that adverse situation. You say, "Lord, I can remember your words. You did not give me a spirit of fear, love, power, and a sound mind." And Lord, I receive it. You lift your hand toward heaven and say, "Lord, I receive what you have given to me." And you walk in that strength. You walk in that power, no matter where you find yourself. Do you hear me today? If you hear me, say amen. Our God is able. He can do it. He can do it. And I love this.
Satan is defeated. He's booted from his celestial office. Now he's booted from his accusatory office as someone who is coming like a prosecutor against the people of God. He has been defeated in two locations. And as a result of that, there are so many judgments against the enemy that we see. The first one, he's expelled from his original position in heaven. He's judged in the Garden of Eden, Genesis 3. He's judged at the cross in John 12:31. He's cast to the earth here in Revelation 12:13. And eventually going to see he's going to be imprisoned in the abyss, Revelation 20. And then he's going to be thrown into the lake of fire at the end of the millennial kingdom in Revelation 20 and 10.
Why is all of this important? Because it's ensuring us and reminding us that Satan is a defeated foe. He's going to have an end to his reign of terror, of deception, verse 9, of the whole world. Why? Because the Lord is the one who truly will reign.
After all of this happens, then we see there is a celebration that occurs in verse 10. Look at verse—got to see this. You got to see this. I love how in the Book of Revelation that events happen and then we have this moment where there is tremendous praise and worship that exudes and also erupt and emerge from the voices of the people.
Although Satan has been kicked out, you better know it's not finished because we're going to see that he's going to land in the earth and ply his trade. In verse 10 of chapter 12, it says, "I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, 'Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before God day and night.'" They overcame, look at it, three things. Because of the blood of the Lamb, the word of their testimony, and because they did not love their life even when they faced death.
Three things. It was the blood of the Lamb, the blood of Jesus Christ, gave them victory because they're victors in Christ Jesus where they place their faith. But then it was the word of their testimony. This is why it is so important that we share and we let people know what the Lord has done for us. You don't have to give all the details. Some things we don't need to repeat. Nobody need to know. You can take it on to the grave, just leave it in the grave. That'll be fine.
But there are things that we need to encourage others and let people know. Let me tell you, God is able and God can deliver you from it. I don't care what has you bound. God can break the heavy yoke. I don't care if you're addicted to pornography. Let me tell you something, God can break the heavy yoke. Adultery, fornication, God can break the heavy yoke. Financial stewardship is horrible, God can break the heavy yoke. Alcoholism, drug addiction, God can break the heavy yoke. Unemployment, laziness, God can break the heavy yoke. Overeating and gluttony, God can break the heavy yoke. I don't care where you find yourself. God can break the heavy yoke if you let him.
Our God can do it for you if you allow him. Praise erupts because the blood of the Lamb, the testimony. They're telling people, "Let me tell you what God did. He met me. I didn't know the way out, but God sustained me." And then finally here, look what he says. Because they were willing to give and make the ultimate exchange. They did not love their own life. It's easy to say, "I'll go and follow him always. I'm with you, even to the point of death," until we're facing it.
Peter was, he told the Lord, "Lord, I'm with you. To the end, Lord, I'm with you." And he had a little slave girl make him curse and run and deny he ever knew the Lord. Do you think you could lay your life down for the Lord? If someone walked up to you today and said, "Are you a Christian? If you're a Christian, I'm going to kill you," what would be your answer, your reply? Don't answer that now because you don't know.
We all know what we hope we would say, but we don't know. Because many of us, we've not come to the place where we're firm and planted in the Lord. But the Bible tells us the reason why these people overcame was because the blood of the Lamb, the word of the testimony, and because they did not love their life even when faced with death. He says, "For this reason, rejoice, oh heavens, you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth, to the sea because what? The Devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time left."
He said rejoice. He said, but now the same carnage that he tried to ply in the paradise, now it comes to the earth. He says, "Woe." Why? Because this tribulation period now is ready to receive unprecedented carnage, pain, anguish because the Devil and his angels now will be unleashed to ply their trade. But the people are still challenged: remain faithful, steadfast. And when you overcome, God says, "I'm going to give you that crown of life," just like he gave the church at Smyrna.
As I close, I want to challenge you with this: remember, God is calling us to do the same thing. He's calling us to fight. The Christian is described as putting on the full armor. That is military language. And if you're a Christian, I want to let you know something: God wants us to fight. The good fight. God has not called us to be wimps, cowards. He wants us to fight. We don't fight with physical; we fight in the spiritual realm. But nevertheless, it is a fight.
Anything that you want in life, you're going to have to fight for. Nobody gives you nothing. One reason why I don't like politicians is because they always talking about they're going to give you. And let me tell you something, they ain't giving you nothing. Any politician telling you they're going to give you something, they're lying to you. Turn them off immediately. Because you know why? Because nobody gives you nothing in life. Do y'all hear me? Raise your camera, make sure you got me. Nobody gives you nothing. Nothing. You hear me? There is no free lunch. Somebody paid for it. Maybe you didn't, but it was not free. There is nothing free in life. Do you hear me?
So don't vote for a candidate, "Hey, we're going to give." He's lying. She's lying. There's nothing free. You got to go grind, baby. You got to go get it. Because ain't nobody giving you nothing. Y'all got quiet on me now. There's some parents in here saying, "Man, he's right." Nothing is free. You got to go grind and go get it.
Our impact thought for today is this: Believers stand as God's gladiators fighting on Earth's stage in a cosmic battle between righteousness and wickedness. Babe, we got to go out there and get it. That's in every area. If you're waiting for someone to come give you something, you're going to be waiting a long time. And if they do give it to you, it's just going to be enough for you to exist, not thrive. Just exist. Go get it.
Father, we love you, we thank you, and we give you praise. And Lord God, we thank you that you have provided us with what we need to go get it done. Lord, may we not be complainers, grumblers, and whiners. But Lord, may we stand on your promises and your precepts and may we fight the good fight of faith in Christ Jesus. We love you. We ask it all in his name. Amen.
Guest (Male): What a great perspective of the wilderness experience, Dr. Coleman. It symbolizes a place of testing and divine provision. God wants to humble us, test our trust and obedience to him, and see what's in our hearts. May we grow in our faith in God and be faithful to him, knowing he never leaves us even in the wilderness phases of our lives.
Friend, if you have questions about what it means to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, please call us at 346-386-4621 or email us at info@rochecolemanministries.org. Now as we close, our impact thought is: believers stand as God's gladiators fighting on Earth's stage in a cosmic battle between righteousness and wickedness. As we heard, God can deliver us from any sin that weighs heavily on us as a yoke and enable us to walk in the freedom he offers. I hope you'll make this ultimate exchange for your life.

About Roche Coleman Ministries: The Infusion Broadcast
The mission of The Roche Coleman Ministries and the Infusion Television and Radio broadcasts is to provide Biblical teaching that inspires listeners to remember the Lord provides strength for life’s journey.
Isaiah 40:28-29 is the impetus for the ministry as the prophet reminds God’s covenant people of the Lord’s provision:
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power.”
After Israel endured exile, they were weary from the journey. The Lord would empower them to endure the hardship and reach their destiny.
