More often than not we give all of our energy and time into various areas of our lives except the area that matters most – our relationship with God. We get so burned out from other things that all we have to give Him is our leftovers. The fact is you cannot serve two masters. We worry too much about being successful in life, but all the while we are killing ourselves to accomplish what God is more than capable of taking care of for us if we simply seek Him first. In order to truly find success we must put God first in all things so that in the end He will say to us, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”

In wrestling, the term used to tap out when you’ve been pinned is to say “uncle.” In our spiritual life we are already fighting principalities, and yet we often find ourselves unwilling to submit to God and therefore fighting Him, too. Rather than wrestling both God and evil, we must say “uncle” to God so that we can say “Father” and allow His strength to be in us so that we can keep wrestling with the principalities that have been beating us. We will not be able to win any match against the powers of Hell until we submit to God and His will for us.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website ( join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
