As Christians, we have the Holy Spirit living in us and working through us to fulfill God’s will. When we are prompted to share the Gospel with whoever we are talking to, we need to step out in obedience and do it because we may not know the work that God is doing behind the scenes.

The Christian life is like a race that we are running, and the devil will do everything he can to try to take us out. Let go of whatever is holding you back and run the race, focusing on the prize at the end.

The first man, Adam, sinned and therefore brought death into the world. We are all born sinners because we come from Adam. Christ, spoken of in Scripture as the last Adam, was the perfect sacrifice that allows for us to become a new creation through His death. If you feel God calling for you to repent and be saved, do not hesitate to respond and receive this free gift of eternal life.

We are surrounded by people who don’t know about God, the Bible, church, and Christianity in general, yet we tend to hang out with people like us. Just like Jesus reached out to the outsiders, and even got criticized for it, we need to help people feel included and teach them about Christ.

While there are many different kinds of people in the world – rich, poor, simple, smart, etc. – the fact is that all of us are shipwrecked and need a Savior. Jesus came that we might all have life in Him, but not many people know that or accept that. As we are on this “island”, we should be utilizing our time to share the Good News so that others may find salvation and no longer be lost with an emptiness in their life that only God can fill.

A pearl is made when something as small as a grain of sand gets into a clam and causes irritation. Complaining about the frustrations in our own lives helps nothing, but we can choose to stop complaining and allow God to work in the situation and make something beautiful out of it.

The devil will try his hardest to get you to stumble when you are obeying the Lord, especially in relationships. When you are married it is essential that you remain content in your own bed, having others keep you accountable. If you have messed up in the past, there is hope beyond the mistake, because although the consequences will still be there, Christ can redeem all things.

Too often we get caught up in seeing the flaws of the authority over us, especially when it comes to our government. Rather than complain about the way things are being run, we should be constantly on our knees praying for the person in charge and asking God to work on that person’s heart, trusting God’s control more than losing heart by watching the flaws of man.

While God sacrificed His Son so that we may be saved, He also desires us to sacrifice our lives to allow Him to pour us out and use us as He pleases. In order to not waste the time you have here on earth, allow God to pour you out and use you as part of His work, no matter what it costs you because it is worth it in the end.

Often times we can get caught up in our lives doing whatever it is we want to do and God comes along, calls us out and stops us in our tracks. When God uses something to get our attention, we need to stop, repent, and follow where He leads.

As believers, this world is only a terminal that we wait in for our eventual trip to Heaven. However, God has us waiting in this place for a reason and, being aware of where we’re going, may we obey Him and live out our purpose while we wait to go home.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
