It was Biblical from the early church times to put in place men who would serve and oversee the direction and accountability of the church. But it was not done frivolously or without prayer and observation of potential individuals, there were rules and authorities that had to be adhered to. This is a great message that goes into detail all the various aspects and governing of how to go about putting men into these most important positions.

We’ve heard it said, be careful what you ask for because you might just get it. In the Old Testament, the Israelites were impatient and wanted a king like everyone else. So God gave them a king. But Saul did things his way instead of God’s way and ended up having the Spirit of God depart from him. But God anointed another one who from the outside was not really king material. And yet David was blessed by God as he operated in God’s direction. Thankfully, God looks at the heart of a person and not the outside.

In a world of email, phone messages, texting, faxes, and snail mail, we have lost the art form and importance of the actual face to face significance of seeing someone’s expressions and value as we talk to them. In Psalm 27, David is so clear in his message that nothing compares to being the very presence of God himself to talk with and express how much we love him. And that is exactly what God wants from us so he can do the same in return.

We’ve heard the saying that hindsight is better than foresight. That can be true when you know what is going to happen and can plan accordingly. But what about when you can’t see around the corner? That’s when we have to depend on our faith as believers in the One who has guided and directed our path in His perfect way to get us through the bumps and grinds of life.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website ( join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
