We tend to be excellent at things that will not last forever such as our jobs, our families, or even our sin. Some of those things are not bad things to be skilled at, but we need to make sure that we are putting in all that it takes to be excellent in our spiritual lives rather than settling for being so-so. The Apostle Paul tells us to run the race in such a way that we are focused on that finish, on Jesus. We only have one life to live and so we must live it knowing that in the end we will be able to see every opportunity that we missed to grow spiritually ourselves and help others. May we be constantly aware of those opportunities while we are here so that in the end we can know we gave it our all.

Too often we think of God as only caring about the "big" stuff, the things that really matter. However, He is a God who cares about all things, big and small, and He shows that to us through His creation. He did not have to create things so intricately, so beautiful, or even pleasure-filled, yet every bit of His creation speaks of His love for us. All we have to do is look around at the ways that He has blessed us, even in in such a small thing as popcorn that is a seemingly silly treat. He is a fun, creative and good God; all we have to do is look up and receive the blessings He gives us every day.

We commonly hear people talk about being in the "End Times" and that the end of the world is near. As Jesus told His disciples in Matthew, no one, not even He knows the time when He will return to call us home. We can choose to either wait around and do nothing for the Kingdom or we can serve as soldiers in the Army of God fighting for the souls of others. God did not put us on this earth to wait around. Rather than wasting our time believing the lies that people say in predicting when Jesus will return, we should focus more on the work God has given us to do, and when He comes back we will be ready.
