The majority of people who do not go to church would go if they were personally invited. Many people feel as though they would be crashing a party, if they went to a church without an invitation.  Jesus’ invitation is for all and so as His Church we need to intentionally extend an invitation to everyone to come. When we accept the invitation God gives us to be part of His family and to eventually be at His party for all eternity, He responds by saying, “You’re Welcome.”

In the story of Esther we are told that she was given one chance to please the king in order to become queen and she was successful. As queen, she had one chance to approach the king at a time when all of her people were sentenced to death, and the king was again pleased with her and it saved her people.  We all have one chance, one life to fulfill God’s purpose for us.  Our purpose is not to be happy and live nonchalantly, but rather to seek out the people God has placed in our lives that we may share the Gospel with them.

When it comes to being a true Christian, the standards set for those who chose that life are literally unattainable. The Bible lists rules to live by such as loving your enemies, caring for widows and orphans, submitting to authority and the list goes on.  It is impossible to live this way unless Jesus Christ lives in us and He bears fruit in our lives.  We cannot live the Christian life without Christ, yet choosing to live it with Him in us is the most rewarding choice we could ever make.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
