THE Resurrection

April 12, 2020

No one is without excuse for having the opportunity to know God and be saved. Because of this, every single person must choose either to follow God and only die once (from this physical world), or to be condemned forever to hell because of their unrepentant heart lost in sin and die twice (once in the physical world and then again in their soul).

God leads us to lost people whose hearts He has already been working on, but when we ignore His leading to share the Gospel with them it can be detrimental to their souls. Jesus gave up His life so that we may be made whole to live forever with Him. He calls us to take up our own cross, get out of our comfort zones and share the message of salvation with others.

Jesus knew that Judas would betray Him to His death yet He still walked closely in relationship with him. He also brings us into close relationship with Himself, yet we often betray Him by saying we love Him and living otherwise. Jesus’ perfect love for us fills us with the ability to love others selflessly in a way that only attributes God’s work in our life.

Jesus put up with so much for us, even to the point of death when it was the flies that were circling His body on the cross. We may not understand everything and we may come across some doubts, but Jesus said that it is blessed for those who do not see Him and yet still believe. No matter what we go through in this life, it is worth more than anything to claim Him as Lord over it all.

During His torture and crucifixion, Jesus was stripped bare naked as He took on the sins of all mankind. We need to come to Him completely open and naked of any hindrances to allow Him to clothe us in His forgiveness and righteousness.

You can tell a lot about a man just by looking at his hands – what kind of work or hobby he does, his strength, his firmness, his gentleness, attention to cleanliness, hardness of life, and many others. When looking at the hands of Jesus we can see His firmness of never letting us go, His compassion that will always hold us, His firmness of correction, His ruggedness of provision, and most of all His immense love by the nail scars in His palms.

Too often we find our passion for Christ to b weak, and it is those times that we focus on ourselves and our own desires. When we finally grasp the fact that Christ was so passionate that He died for us, we will have the passion to die to ourselves, take up our cross and live for Him, no matter how many days we have left on earth.

Just as the men who owned the donkeys that Jesus needed to ride on when He entered Jerusalem for Palm Sunday were willing to give them when they heard the Lord needed them, we must be willing to give whenever God asks. Since everything we have is His anyway, we must give Him all of what we have, even ourselves, to be used for His glory.

We cannot leave the job of telling others about Christ to preachers. We must take responsibility for the people that God has placed in our lives and tell them about Him. We may be the only person they have to tell them about the free gift of salvation.

There are times in our lives when God’s grace rains down, but on an every day basis it is His dew that sustains us. His provision for every area of our lives shows us His immeasurable grace, but it’s His gift of salvation through Christ’s death on the cross that is more than enough for what we could ever need.
April 1, 2020
When Jesus died He knew that God would raise Him from the dead three days later. Because of His sacrifice, we are given the choice to leave this earth and be raised to life for eternity in Heaven if we give our lives to Him now.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
