After the Israelites had fled from Egypt and wandered in the wilderness they came to the land that God had promised them. Ten spies went out to scout the land and most of those spies came back telling the people that those who dwelt in the land were to strong and too big for them to conquer. Just as they became overwhelmed by fear of facing those giants we can often be fearful of the analogous giants in our own lives. The truth is that God is far bigger than anything we could face. Jesus reminds us not to worry because just as God cares even for the ravens, He cares so much more for us to provide all we need.

We all come to a point in our life when we need help. The Bible tells us about the importance of asking for help, not only from God but also from others. God promises to help us every time we cry out to Him. He also sends people to help us as well. It is important to be involved in a community of believers so that when you need help you can simply ask and receive the help that others offer. At the same time, when someone asks for help you can help them and trust that when your time of need comes that you will receive the same help that you offer others.

Most of us have people in our life that we could consider an enemy, someone who dislikes us and picks at us constantly because of their disdain. The Bible tells us that rather than lashing back at them we are to respond in kindness, and it is that kindness that inevitably heaps coals on their head, which will eventually cause them to question why we respond in love. As a Christian, we have the responsibility to love others as God loves them, even our enemies. People usually hurt others because they have been hurt themselves so rather than reacting to them in a similar manner we should bless them and pray for them.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
