No matter what comes at us, if Jesus is in us then nothing can tear us apart. God uses all of our suffering for His glory by helping us reach others that we would’ve never met otherwise, and He gives us the strength and faith to withstand anything that comes against us.

When it comes to obeying God in what He has called us to do, it is not something that happens once and we’re done; it is an every day pursuit. God has invited us to ask Him for anything according to His will, and so when we ask Him for something we must continue to ask Him with perseverance.

There are plenty of people praying for themselves or for others that God would send help, and we are that help that God sends but we have to be listening to His calling and respond in obedience. Following Jesus means being willing to give up whatever it takes to reach others with the Gospel before it’s too late.

We all face difficulties in our lives when life seems to be mean, but we always have a choice on how we will handle it. If we trust God in the meantime and focus on His purpose for allowing those times, we are filled with His sustaining peace and joy and He is able to use us to reach others.

The excuses for why God shouldn’t pick us are endless, however He picked us anyway. When we pick Him back, He works in and through our lives to accomplish His work. We need to be humbled by the fact that we are chosen, and we need to respond by giving Him our lives to do with as He pleases.

God can choose anyone He wants to exalt to a position of leadership, but whether He chooses us for that or not we must remember that our lives are meant to magnify Him. When others look at our lives they should see God’s greatness through the hope that we cling to in all circumstances.

Our motivation when giving needs to be bringing God glory, so we must give in response to His calling. The Bible speaks about the necessity of giving, not so that others are provided for but more than that, it’s about our hearts. God gives to us so that we can give to others in response to trusting Him and thanking Him for the blessings He’s given.

The Christian life is about constant pursuit of God through Scripture and gathering together as believers. Instead of letting the change He’s made in our lives fade out and get to a point of rejecting Him, we must be intentional about not going back to our old lives and instead pressing on to learn about Him more and allow Him to continue molding and shaping us.

Not many people have something in their life that they would die for. In a relationship with Jesus Christ He desires a commitment from us that we give our whole lives to Him. The Bible teaches that we are to be a living sacrifice to God, living and doing all things for Him.

We are incapable in and of ourselves not only to be willing to do what’s right, but even to follow through and do it. God walks with us through the process of making us willing first, and as we allow Him to work in us He follows through with the doing.

We often put sin on a scale and say that some sin is too bad to be forgiven while our sins aren’t bad enough to keep us out of Heaven. The truth is that, because of Christ’s sacrifice, God offers grace and forgiveness to everyone regardless of their sin. We need to see our sin for what it is, all of it separating us from God, and turn around in gratitude that He has washed us clean.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
