We are surrounded by bad advice anywhere we look, yet God promises to give us wisdom if we would seek Him. When we follow His direction for our lives, we become useful to Him for growing His Kingdom by reaching others.

When Jesus was here on earth He brought some of His disciples to a mountaintop where He unveiled His glory and met with Moses and Elijah to be encouraged for what was coming. That light of Christ that shone through Him is inside those who follow Him and if we allow His light to shine in and through our lives He can use us to bring others to Himself.

The Bible clearly instructs us to work at living peaceably with one another, being quick to resolve issues, letting go of our offenses and pride. Everyone may not be willing to live this way, but as much as we are responsible for we must make every effort to seek resolution in the midst of a mess. First and foremost, the greatest resolution we must go after is resolving our relationship with God through Jesus Christ to be saved and brought into His family.

We don’t know when God will say that our time on earth is done. Rather than wasting the time we are given we need to obey God in everything He tells us to do so that He can live in us and through us to reach as many people as possible.

The devil’s mission is to steal, kill, and destroy, plotting to keep us from getting out of this world alive. The truth is, there is life after death, eternal life with God forever, but there are so many people that don’t even know about it or think they can have a chance at that life. While we are here, we should be spreading the Word and fighting against the devil’s lies to help get as many people out of this world alive.

Salvation secures us from being lost forever, separated from God. Once we’ve received it, we can then give up our lives for the sake of following Christ and gain heavenly rewards that we can have to offer Him in eternity.

The Bible very specifically points out the hypocrites who teach one way to live and live themselves in a completely different way. It’s one thing to do the right actions, but it’s a whole other thing with greatest importance to have a heart relationship with God and follow Him so that out of that comes the fruit of our lives.

Jesus was shown to be raised in three different ways in Scripture; the first with His parents in His childhood, the second when the guards raised Him on the cross, and the third when God raised Him from the dead. We must look to Him to be saved and tell others to do the same.

Jesus came as the Savior of the world, offering salvation and a changed life to all. He promised to return and it’s our job to announce His returning. We must wait expectantly and talk with others about how Jesus can change their lives as well.

Jesus came to earth in the poorest of conditions, being born in a stable, so that no one could claim that they are worse off than He was. Even the people that God chose to share the news of the Messiah with first were the smelly, poor shepherds. The Savior was born, and even the creation of the stars told of this event, leading the wisemen to the stable in Bethlehem. From all of these poor circumstances came the baby boy that would be the Lamb who was slain to save the whole world.

God used people like Elizabeth and Mary to do great things, essentially bringing Jesus into the world to save the world, because they were willing to be used by God no matter what He asked. We need to be obedient to God when He calls us to do something and let Him use us as He pleases to reach others.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
