There’s a story in the Bible about a man who was born blind and Jesus healed Him. God used this man’s difficult circumstances to be glorified in the end by revealing Himself through healing. God can use the difficulties in our own lives for His purpose, and we must take a stand to proclaim His goodness in all things.

Positive thinking that we can do something is not the solution to enable us to do all things. When we trust in God He enables us to do everything that He has called us to do. Therefore we need not be fearful of what He calls us to do because it is in Christ that we are able to do all things for Him.

The Bible teaches that most people choose the easy path in life that is based upon serving oneself. However, it is only the narrow path that leads to Christ and the fullness of life. You can tell if you are growing in your relationship with God byhow the path you are on continues to narrow.

Some people hear the Word and don’t accept any of it. Some hear the Word and get excited at first but eventually the excitement fades and nothing changes.Others can hear the Word but are distracted by other things in life. Yet there aresome who hear the Word and it resonates in them, causing them to grow and produce spiritual fruit in their life. Everyone falls into one of these categories andyou can tell which one you’re in by observing if your life is producing fruit.

Too often we stand in our own ways and do not obey God in what He is callingus to do. God is looking for us to surrender to His will so that we may live in obedience to Him. We must surrender first and say “uncle” before we can callHim “Father.” Once we submit to God He gives us the power we need to wrestle with the temptations of this world.

The Bible tells us that God picked us to be in relationship with and follow Him, just like Jesus picked His disciples while here on earth. Rather than seeing all the reasons why we should not be chosen, we need to accept God’s love for us and live in obedience to Him. He chose each of us for a reason and so we must get up and get in the game.

There are certain sins in our life that we find ourselves entangled in. The Bible says that we are dead to sin yet we do not live that way day to day. Rather than sinning as much as we can knowing that God will forgive us, we need to acknowledge that there are consequences to our sin and we need to live lives of obedience and faithfulness to God.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
