When you look at a can of soda, all the ingredients are there for it to taste good, but it is the power of the carbonation that makes it fizz. And if this can is left out over a period of time, it grows flat. That’s the same way it is with us as Christians. The ingredients are all there, we just need the power of the Holy Spirit along with our faith to put the “fizz” into our walk and our effectiveness. Otherwise, we will just grow flat.

Out of the same mouth can come blessing and curse. It all depends on what we choose to believe in our hearts. One of the hardest and most damaging things we can do is speak unkindly of people, even to the point of spreading untruths about them. The damage control we need to have in our lives first starts with looking in the mirror to make sure we get cleaned up. Once that takes place, and we begin to pray for individuals, it is very hard to speak poorly of them or gossip about them.

Each of us as believers need to get mobile and look for opportunities where we can reach out to hurting people and do the work of the ministry. If you were waiting for the go ahead, you have it. So go ahead! The are people who very well may only have us as their only contact in which we can be a real Christian, a Christ follower, that connects with their lives. If you think it is only the church staff that should be doing this, you have totally missed the reason for the gospel. So come on, and go ahead

When Jesus left this earth to go back into heaven, he promised that he would return. He spoke this to his disciples but it was meant for all of us who have trusted in his saving grace. These are not empty words, they are true. And in that day, he will come to take us home. Until then, we need to boldly proclaim the same Good News that Jesus IS returning for all who have called on his name to be saved.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website ( join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
