The story of David and Goliath shows us an example of how God is capable to overcome any of our obstacles. Rather than getting worried and anxious about the trials we face, we need to put our trust in Him and believe His Word that says that He is greater than anything that comes against us.

Jesus gave us a good example of what it looks like to go outside of your box. Obedience to God draws you outside of your comfortable box so that He may be glorified and His name may be made known to others.

The Bible is full of instances where men and women chose to obey God in spite of serious consequences. When we choose to obey God, He promises to be with us through whatever fire we may face.

If you are not faithful to give when you have very little, you will not be faithful when you have a lot. God wants to help you live a life that is pleasing to Him which in turn brings you joy and satisfaction, but you have to let go of your possessions to let Him take and give as He pleases.

When we call out to God to help us we must be ready and willing to obey whatever He tells us to do no matter how crazy it sounds. When we get His answer to our call and obey what He does, we must never forget to thank Him for the blessing that we receive.

The inevitable truth is that all of us are going to die, but not all of us are sure of what happens to us after death. We can be certain of our salvation and that we will be in heaven because of Christ’s sacrifice to take on the payment of our sins. As the sand falls in our hourglass of a lifetime, our death wish should be to be with Jesus forever in heaven, as well as wishing that same fate for all those we know.

The Bible lays out for us how we are supposed to live our lives, modeling for others what it looks like to serve God and showing them what He’s done in and through us. When we have a model home, both our family life and our personal life, that becomes attractive to others and they are drawn to God.

The worry that we often feel is a result of our lack of trust in God. When we live our lives choosing to trust Him, rejoicing in whatever circumstances, His peace that is supernatural guards us from anxiety.

Jesus told us that as followers of Him, He has put His light in each of us to go light the darkness in the world. Through the light that shines in our hearts, God can use us to help change the world.

The moments when we give up our original plan for momentary pleasure can be huge mistakes that lead to grave consequences. We must remember to keep our focus on God and know that every choice we make has an impact on ourselves and others.
November 20, 2013
Often times the biggest hurdle for us to overcome when it comes to sin is ourselves. We can learn from the consequences we’ve experienced in the past and look at the path the our current struggles are taking us down. If we choose to learn from our consequences we will not be deceived and we will choose the path that leads to life.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
