A crucial part of the Christian life is studying Scripture. There are multiple stories in the Bible that show how God used a person’s knowledge about the Scriptures to help others better understand what they read because of the Spirit’s leading. God wants us to be engrossed in the Scriptures so that He can use us to help explain truth and life to those who are seeking it. He doesn’t want us to merely be able to explain what something says, but also tell how it is to be applied to one’s life, and that happens when the Holy Spirit lays on our heart the truth that is right in front of us. When we realize that the Word holds truth and life, we must then discipline ourselves to study so that we may be able to share what the Word has with others and see how the Spirit uses that truth to transform their life.

There are many women who have lost a child, either by their own sin of choosing to give up that life or by other causes. The story of David and Bathsheba losing the son that they conceived in sin describes how David dealt with the loss of a child. David fasted for the seven days of the child’s live and after the death David worshipped God for he knew that he would someday see that baby again. Though it should not be the reasoning for giving your life to Christ so as to see a child who has passed from this world to be with God, there is hope for those mothers who follow Christ that they will once again be reunited with their children who have gone to be with the Lord.

Shortly before Jesus was crucified He told Peter that he would deny Him three times before the rooster crowed cock-a-doodle-doo. Though he did not believe this at that time, Peter did as was predicted. The sound of a rooster’s crow was a sound that Peter had to hear probably every day for the rest of his life, and every time he heard it he was reminded of his denial of Christ. There can be a variety of things that remind us of mistakes we have made in our past, but the fact is that God has forgotten and remembers our sin no more when we are washed in the blood of Christ. Rather than allowing these times that the devil reminds us of our mistakes to bring us down, we should instead sing praises to God and fight back with Scripture, moving forward from the past and embracing the future God has for us

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
