When God calls us to serve Him in some way, we will tire out very quickly if we try to do it all on our own. He has designed things in such a way that we must depend on Him, keeping our eyes on Him, in order to accomplish what He wants done in His power.

When we learn what the Bible says about different sins and struggles in our lives, we can use that to keep ourselves from stepping off the path that God intends for us to stay on. Scripture helps light our feet every step of the way, and as we continue on the right path God’s light shines in and through us and attracts other people to Him.

The Bible tells us of the covenant that God made with His chosen people, Israel. That covenant was then shared with all the gentiles through Christ. This means that for us who believe, we become God’s children forever and He promises to take care of us just as He took care of Israel and continues to do so.

The only thing that will ever make us truly happy in life is understanding that God loves us and there is nothing that can ever change that. When we realize that He loves us, we can then love Him and ourselves. When we love God and ourselves we can begin to love others, sharing with them His love for them as well.

There are plenty of evils in this world, yet God has chosen us as His followers to dwell in us in order so that we may become more like Him and be able to fight against the powers of darkness. Once the Spirit dwells in us there is nothing that can ever separate Him from us.

The world’s way of loving others is dependent on how others love us first. When we have a healthy relationship with God and we understand and accept His love for us, we can’t help but love others with an unconditional, selfless type of love. When we are loving others that way, they see His work in our lives and are drawn to Him.

If we have exes that we’ve not forgiven, the bitterness we can carry around will haunt us for the rest of our lives. God says that we are supposed to love our enemies and pray for them as well as forgive them. When we forgive those who have hurt us we can let go and move on.

The devil draws many into believing his lies that this life is all there is, but the reality is that there is life after this life. As long as we keep our faith and hope in the reality that is to come, we can have the strength to finish out the things God has placed us on this earth to do until He calls us home.

We may feel like we are flops, but God gave His Son for us. He went all in to save us and so in return we must go all in and give Him our lives, allowing Him to work in us and through us, taking care of us all the way.

Just like we can track our genealogy to people may generations ago and see how choices in their lives made an impact on our lives today, we can do the same spiritually. We need to be living an obedient life to God, not putting it off, because it makes a difference to the other believers and those who have yet to believe for generations to come.

Sometimes the worst harm that we can do is to do nothing when an opportunity presents itself for us to speak up and share our faith with others. God wants to use us to reach more people for His Kingdom and so we must be ready to give a reason for that hope that should be clearly seen in our lives.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
