Pain In The Neck

February 4, 2010
The Christian faith is not an easy road to travel as there are many times where we are persecuted, trampled on, made fun of, or sometimes things just seem to crater in our lives and everything falls apart. At the same time, we have to guard ourselves from causing someone else to stumble by being a pain in the neck to them! Trust God, walk with him and do the right thing.

It's a real simple question: Do we have things that we own or things that we have? Do they own us or cause us to give freely to those in need? God doesn't want us to hang on to anything, he wants us to use our "things" to be able to help those in need. The early people in the book of Acts understood this point, and we need to too!

Even in the midst of the turmoil the world and our country seem to be in, God is still sovereign and in control. In Daniel Chapter 5, the king saw something that completely blew his mind. Desperate for an interpretation, he was urged to have Daniel explain the vision. And what Daniel shared may not have been what the king wanted to hear, but it was the truth. We have to believe that we are on this planet for a very special purpose, hand picked to be the light and salt of His amazing truth.

Do you live your life full of regrets? Have you ever done anything that you have been utterly ashamed of, even to the point of not being able to share it with anyone because of the embarrassment? The worst thing about having shame is having no place to take it. But when you take it to the Father who will not reject you, and then repent, there is forgiveness and restoration like none other. Ezra Chapter 9 is the backdrop of this important message we all need to hear.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
