God has promised to take care of all our needs, yet we still tend to cling to our possessions, loving them more than Him. When we give our lives to Christ, He owns us and therefore all of our stuff is His stuff.

No matter what our circumstances look like, it is possible to be content because God has provided all that we need. When we focus on God and His Kingdom, our material possessions are merely used for Him and therefore no matter much or how little we have, it does not determine our choice to be content.

There will always come moments in our lives when life socks and knocks us down. The world is watching how we’ll react when that happens so we need to show them how faith in God keeps us standing. Rather than focusing on your circumstances we need to focus on and trust in Him.

Trying to hold on as tightly as possible to our lives and our plans is a sure way to lose it all in the end. The only way of winning is to lose ourselves to God, letting go of everything and living in obedience to Him.

The Christian life is like running a race, and we need to run as if we want to win. It takes work, it’s not easy, but God puts people in our lives to help run with us. Let’s let go of the things that are weighing us down and run the race until the end with endurance and determination.

The ultimate comeback story is when Jesus took all our sin on Himself, died to pay the price and came back to life. He also promised that He would come back again to take us with Him. We need to come to Him in the first place, receive salvation, and then no matter how much we may wander away we must choose to come back to Him and walk with Him, waiting for His return while doing His good work on earth.

No one is without excuse for having the opportunity to know God and be saved. Because of this, every single person must choose either to follow God and only die once (from this physical world), or to be condemned forever to hell because of their unrepentant heart lost in sin and die twice (once in the physical world and then again in their soul).

God leads us to lost people whose hearts He has already been working on, but when we ignore His leading to share the Gospel with them it can be detrimental to their souls. Jesus gave up His life so that we may be made whole to live forever with Him. He calls us to take up our own cross, get out of our comfort zones and share the message of salvation with others.

Jesus knew that Judas would betray Him to His death yet He still walked closely in relationship with him. He also brings us into close relationship with Himself, yet we often betray Him by saying we love Him and living otherwise. Jesus’ perfect love for us fills us with the ability to love others selflessly in a way that only attributes God’s work in our life.
April 9, 2020
Jesus put up with so much for us, even to the point of death when it was the flies that were circling His body on the cross. We may not understand everything and we may come across some doubts, but Jesus said that it is blessed for those who do not see Him and yet still believe. No matter what we go through in this life, it is worth more than anything to claim Him as Lord over it all.
April 8, 2020
During His torture and crucifixion, Jesus was stripped bare naked as He took on the sins of all mankind. We need to come to Him completely open and naked of any hindrances to allow Him to clothe us in His forgiveness and righteousness.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website ( join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
