On the Ball

We are only on this earth for a time and we need to be making the most of it. God will tell us our purpose for being here the more we seek Him through Scripture and prayer and He gives us His wisdom. When we are living out our purpose, we are reaching others’ lives for God’s Kingdom.

Rather than being stubborn and thinking that we know everything, the Bible tells us to learn from one another. The only way we can learn is if we humble ourselves and become teachable. When we’re learning from those who are further along we can help teach those who are behind us.

While God offers us abundant life through Jesus Christ, we often choose to live on the side of “lush” that inevitably brings destruction. When we realize that we are tempted, we must be vulnerable with other brothers and sisters in Christ, asking them to help us through the temptation so that we may experience the lush life that God has for us.

Because of God’s love for all of us, He offers everyone the option to live with Him in Heaven for eternity but we must believe in Jesus and accept His gift of salvation. By choosing to not believe and accept this, the ultimate price to inevitably be paid is Hell for eternity. We must choose, and the better choice is Jesus.

Jesus’ life is a clear example of God’s desire to come to us, as unclean and undeserving as we are, because He loves us. Just as He holds no limits to those He touches and can work in and through for His glory, He takes us beyond the limits the world holds and brings us to people of all sorts of backgrounds and situations to serve, love and sometimes even touch for His Kingdom purposes.

God tests our obedience often and we have to be walking in the Spirit to hear His promptings and obey. When God prompts us to talk to others about Jesus, we need to be able and willing to share with them the message of the Gospel and give them the reason for the hope that we have.

One of the meanings of the word “broadcasting” is to sow seed. As Christians, we are all called to broadcast the message of the Gospel with everyone, knowing that not everyone will receive it. It takes a lot of work for a seed to produce a crop, and when we obey God in the work He calls us to then we get to take part it the transformation of other people’s lives.

It’s easy to go to God when we need something, but do we go back and thank Him when He provides what we need? As our Heavenly Father, God loves for us to come to Him in praise and thanks for all that He has done and continues to do in our lives.

We are all born as sinners, basically working for hell in which the payment is death. The only way that we can get out of that job is to switch over by accepting God’s free gift of salvation, which gives us life. Jesus has already taken our payment of death on Himself to give us this opportunity, but we just have to receive it.

We all face pain in our lives, whether it’s from something that happens to us or we inflict it on ourselves through sin. God’s grace covers us in our pain and brings relief, comfort and peace.

Rather than getting upset that everyone goes to Heaven as long as they make Jesus their Lord and Savior, whether it be at the beginning or end of life, we need to just be grateful that God has accepted us in the first place. He doesn’t do things because they are fair but rather for the purpose of His own glory.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
