Life Support
January 3, 2013
At the beginning of a year there is a sense of new beginnings.  The Bible lines out many practices to implement into our lives in order to shine God’s light in the darkness of the world we live in.  Our finances are one category that God calls us to be responsible with, giving to Him the first fruits of our labor so that we may see Him provide for all other areas of our life.  Ultimately where our treasure is shows where our heart is, so if our treasure is at a church home it shows that we are also committed to another thing He has called us to, belonging to a body of believers.  Above anything else, the only thing that will keep us on track in all these categories is spending time every morning talking with God.

It’s easy to think about the resolutions that we’d like to make when a new year rolls around.  The difference, however, between a resolution and a revolution is that a resolution is merely something you intend to do but do not necessarily follow through on.  A revolution is when you take action in such a way that it changes your life, your family, and the other people around you.  Rather than merely making good intentions, ask God to help you see specific areas of your life that He’d like you to work on for the new year and obey His leading.

Me We
December 26, 2012
God’s love was so clearly displayed when He sent His Son, Jesus, to be the Savior of the world.  God loved us enough, even in our sinful state, to make the greatest sacrifice of all.  We are reminded of this love by a story of a little girl who accidentally held her letter upside down in a Christmas production that with her mistake spelled out “CHRIST WAS LOVE.”  God does not want anyone to be condemned to hell, but when they choose to not receive the greatest gift that He offers to them, which is salvation through Christ alone, they do not get to experience the life changing, healing love that He provides.

The problem when someone takes the “Christ” out of “Christmas” is that they are basically ripping out the whole New Testament.  If that is the case, we are still waiting for a Messiah, our sins are not forgiven, and we would have to convert to Judaism.  There are so many different elements of the Gospel story that would have to be ignored because of how much proves that Christ truly was the anointed Son of God who died to take away the sins of the world.  It is not bad to question things, but at some point you have to believe what the Bible says or else claim that the whole thing is a hoax.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
