For those of us who have been born again, God is our spiritual Father who loves and cares for us, leads us, and provides all we need in every aspect. Whether we’ve had a person in our lives who has modeled this for us or not, God wants to use us to extend His fatherly love towards others and disciple them.

The Bible talks about different kinds of love that we can experience, but only certain kinds can we experience once we are born again. God is love, and it is only once we receive love from Him that we can have the greatest love to give back to Him and to others in all kinds of relationships.

Rather than getting upset that everyone goes to Heaven as long as they make Jesus their Lord and Savior, whether it be at the beginning or end of life, we need to just be grateful that God has accepted us in the first place. He doesn’t do things because they are fair but rather for the purpose of His own glory.

Jesus tells us that we can only serve one master, and the only Master that will actually take care of us and provide all of our needs is God Himself. When we let go of serving other people or for the sake of obtaining more and more things, we can live in a state of contentment and faith that keeps us from worrying about what’s in the hands of our Master who cares deeply for us.

The Bible warns us that the devil is constantly attacking us with the intention of devouring us. We must be in prayer for ourselves and others while also delving into Scripture and putting on the full armor of God for protection.

The Bible talks about the importance of giving money to the poor and caring for the widows and orphans. While it is not impossible for a rich person to serve God, when a poor person gives of their finances it is a big sacrifice and puts them into a position of trusting God’s provision.

Following God is not something that is supposed to be burning us out. While God works in and through us, He also gives us spiritual rest and carries our burdens. We need to stop trying to carry them all ourselves and work ourselves crazy, but instead step back and find the complete spiritual rest that God offers to us.

In a marriage, it is important to continue the pursuit of one another and remain faithful during the less exciting times. In the same way, our relationship with God may not always feel thrilling, but we need to continue pursuing Him and see the change that He does in our lives over time.

The Bible lays out clear instruction for us to say no to the devil and all the things he tempts us with. Instead of falling into harm’s way on his behalf, we are to be staying in step with the Holy Spirit who will lead us into harm’s way, but under His protection for the sake of fighting for others.

Too often our passion for Christ turns down when we face trials or are tempted again and again by old sins. No matter how long it’s been since we felt that passion for Him, we can start by talking with Him, praising Him, reading His Word and thanking Him for all that He has done for us. The more we stir our passion by doing those things the more the feelings of love for Him will return.

We are all born losers without the ability to get into Heaven or live a victorious life on earth. Jesus is our only hope who can turn us from losers into victors, and He reaches out to us and offers this transformation for free, we just have to believe Him and accept it.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
