When you make the decision to follow Jesus you are called to love others in such a way that is noticeably due to God’s work in your life. When those outside the Church look at Christians they need to see God working in us and through us by the way we love one another.

When we continually do work for God out of our own strength we end up tired and worn down. It is good to believe what we read in Scripture and follow that up with obedience to do what it says, but we must also apply faith in that He will do what He has promised in and through us. It is only when we let Him work in that way that we experience the greatest rest.

For some reason we think that we are in control of ourselves, our decisions, or even to some extent the result of an election. As Christians, we have the responsibility to live a godly life, and so that we must do. Unlike any material thing, God hears, sees, and understands our problems and it is Him who calls the shots, and His plan always prevails.

If you are struggling with fear and confusion in your life, you did not get those things from God. He offers you the Holy Spirit to live inside of you and fill you with power, love and a sound mind. When you have Him inside of you, nothing can stand against you.

It is easy to criticize someone in authority, however the Bible teaches us to pray for them instead. No person that has been placed in authority has been put there outside of God’s sovereignty and we must honor their authority while praying for God to work in and lead their heart and decisions.

The only place that can ever truly have the claim that “what happens here stays here” is the foot of the cross. When you lay down your life and accept Christ’s forgiveness and love, you leave your old self behind and you become a new creation. Never forget that bad seed produces bad fruit no matter where you plant it, and good seed produces good fruit no matter how long it takes to grow.

There is a very big difference between someone who is a father and someone who fathers. Rather than simply adopting us into His family and letting us be, God desires a continued growing father/child relationship. Jesus tells us to ask our Father for all that we need and He will provide it. We must never forget to thank Him for the gifts that He gives.

There are times in our lives when God rescues us from the destruction we have been living in, but it is so very tempting to simply look back. When we look back, it is as if we are playing with fire; we will get burned. Rather than looking back, may we look forward and press on towards the goal that has been set for us in Christ Jesus.

One of the most difficult things to forgive is sexual sin, whether it means forgiving someone who sexually harmed you or forgiving yourself for the sexual acts you’ve done. The only one who can bring true sexual healing regardless of the past is Jesus, and He wants to make things right with you so that you may have a beautiful fulfilling marriage and enjoy sex the way it was intended to be.

The fact is that everyone is in bondage, held captive by a master. While we all started as slaves to sin, because of the price that Jesus paid we can be freed from our bondage to sin and alive as slaves to righteousness. We are always going to be a slave to something, but if we choose to be a slave to God we will find freedom in the blood of Christ.

The story in the Bible of the prodigal son depicts for us a picture of God the Father anxiously waiting for us to come to Him no matter where we’ve been or what we’ve done. There is nothing that you can do that will ever keep Him from loving you and accepting you as His child.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website (www.RichardEllisTalks.com) join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
