In the story of Belshazzar and Daniel, Belshazzar and his friends worshipped material things until God intervened and wrote with a hand on the wall in order to warn them from the life they were living.  For some reason, we think that we are in control of ourselves, of our decisions, or even to some extent the results of an election.  As Christians, we know and have the responsibility to live a godly life, and so that we must do.  Unlike any material thing, God hears, sees, and understands our problems and it is Him who calls the shots, and no matter what it is His plan that prevails.

Everyone has experienced overwhelming shame at some point in his or her life.  However, we must never be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which we must proclaim to the world.  Our shame over our sin brings us to repentance, and it is because of God’s grace that He disciplines us.  Despite all that we may do to bring shame to ourselves, God is a Father who will never be ashamed of us.

Everyone is on the ball in the physical sense, as in here on earth.  To be “on the ball” in the spiritual sense means that Christians must seek the Lord for wisdom, be discipled, make disciples, and live their lives in such a way that causes others to look at them and wonder what is different about them.  If a Christian is truly “on the ball” it shows in every aspect of their life – the way they spend their time, their finances, and even the diligence in their work.  In order to get “on the ball,” it is first necessary to get clean, repent, and then begin to work on your life and the lives of others.

About Richard Ellis

Authentic... Genuine... Sincere... This guy is the real deal. He loves God. He loves his wife Rebecca and his 3 daughters. He loves people. He loves his job. He loves Texas BBQ. He loves an occasional round of golf. And he loves the Dallas Cowboys (but don’t hold that against him!).

Richard grew up as a missionary kid in Brazil, coming back to the states to finish his education. He graduated from Baylor University in 1982 with a BA in Oral Communications, and earned his MDIV in 1985 from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, making him the sixth generation of pastors in his family. His early days of ministry included serving for three years as the Single Adults Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas.

Then in 1997, Richard Ellis founded Reunion Church, a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, non-denominational church in the heart of Dallas,Texas. Dallas needed a church like it. And it would need a pastor like Richard. So Reunion Church was born. And now the radio show and the website ( join the Reunion Church community under the leadership of this guy. And we’re all the better for it!
